Wifi & ethernet connection won't work?

So I just purchased this device second hand and started the set up process & it won't connect via ethernet or wifi?

"The wireless network hardware on this console is not working. It will need to be sent in for repairs"

I dont see how wireless card effects ethernet though.

Yes I tried all basic advice:

Power cycle, test cables/router - all is fine.

Before returning it, is there any way of factory resetting or can you suggest other things I should try beforehand? Possible glitch or software problem?

Will try usb method of resetting it

How much will the cost of a repair be?

Can I use a non-microsoft wifi adapter or 4g usb dongle?

    Thanks!

    :)

Wifi & ethernet connection won't work?

Hello thank you for your reply, it was the oldest generation of xbox one.

Apparently warrant is no longer valid.

Tried power cycle, as stated above, basic advice has already been tried.

I was told to perform a factory reset & then load up a system offline update (currently doing)

If that doesn't work, then I will need to send it in for repairs (upwards of $200) which means no chance, I ain't doing that.

If the above doesn't work, then I'll be performing a manual repair myself. If it breaks, oh well... Just sell the parts off, no big issue since I can't boot past setup page anyway

With that in mind, would a Xbox X or S NIC card be compatible? In theory, I don't see why it wouldn't.

    Thanks all

Wifi & ethernet connection won't work?

Because many times the ethernet and wifi can exist on the same hardware card.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

If that doesn't work you can try contact
    Xbox Support
to see if they will repair it since you bought it used.

    Hi Br4ndz!

Which console are you trying to setup? Older consoles have different NIC's installed internally than the xbox one or xbox one x.

Confirm what you are using before we can help proceed with your connection issue.

    Thanks

unfortunately we are only able to give official fixes and suggestions we can not recommend or advise on other actions that would void the warranty.

    Network/ W!

"My xbox won't connect to my wifi unless i use an ethernet cable"

If you want to use WiFi to connect to your network hardware you must disconnect the ethernet cable from the console. It's one or the other not both.

Wired ethernet is superior to WiFi.
