Wifi Connectivity issues when External Hard drive is plugged in

Today I tried connecting an external HDD to my Xbox One S (To install new games on It).

But immediately I got Internet connection Issues. I tried Unplugging my Modem..resetting it...etc.

Finally I found that Whenever external had drive is connected the internet connection is lost.

I unplugged my HDD n BOOM!!! Internet is black on!

Please help me get a solution to it.

I need to expand my storage via external HDD n get connected at the same time.

    Regards,

    Satyendra

    :)

    Network no longer works

Here is a relevant note from the known issues summary, I hope you find it useful

    Wireless Networking:

You may encounter a “wireless network hardware on this console is not working” error when connecting to Xbox Live with a wireless connection.

Your Xbox One console may be unable to detect a wireless connection while an external hard drive is plugged in. Workaround: Unplug the external hard drive, hard reset the console, connect to WiFi, then connect the external hard driv

    USB ports not functioning?

So I have had (what I thought) was an issue with my external hard drive since the NXOE preview program back in October.

I was downloading Halo 5 on October 25th, left the room for awhile, and when I came back my console was frozen. I pulled the plug, since nothing else was working, and when it came back up-- no external hard drive. It wasn't being recognized at all.

If I powered down the console completely, unplugged it for well over 5 minutes, plugged the external drive in and powered up the console. I had no wifi connectivity-- It would not see any wifi networks at all. And still no hard drive being recognized. After
powering down again and unplugging, I started the console without the external drive plugged in. Wifi was restored, everything was fine (aside from the external drive still not working).

This has continued since then. I worked with Hyperion on the NXOE forums to provide info, submit feedback, and since then I have been waiting for a software fix.

However some new information has come to light. I tried to play Disney Infinity, however the 2.0 base (which is USB) does not work... So reading the external drive is not the issue. The USB ports are not working.

I have tried all 3 ports and have plugged in a USB hub to the side port-- the hub does power up when plugged in, however no connectivity if I plug the external drive or the infinity base in.

So my question (finally) is this: Am I looking at a hardware failure? Or is this, indeed, a software problem?

And as a follow-up question: if this is hardware, and I send it in to get repaired, what would the repair fee on that generally look like? More or less than paying $150 for a refurb console?

    Thanks! I appreciate the time.

Wifi Connectivity issues when External Hard drive is plugged in

    Hey there Satyendra -

If you connect your console to your network using a wired connection, do you still experience the same connectivity issues? What is the make/model of the external HDD?

Definitely try a wired connection first though as that is almost always going to be the most optimal (and most stable) connection method. Let us know how it goes!

I have my own thread which no one is responding to. I'm having the same issue, the xbox is the ONLY thing having connection issues which tells me it's not my damn internet, same as everyone else who's having trouble. No I can't just pick up my tv and xbox
to plug it into my wireless router. This is not an issue on my end as I've power cycled, opened the ports, disabled ALL router firewalls (which is utterly ridiculous) and still can't stay connected to internet or live. There are now too many people with this
issue for it to be on our end, don't know what Microsoft did, but ever since the April update I can't stay connected. It would be really nice to hear some other suggestions than power cycle.

Xbox series x keeps crashing video game apps

May I know if an external hard drive is plugged into your console? If yes, have you kept the external hard drive unplugged when performing troubleshooting steps and check if the issue persists without external hard drive?

X1 Won't copy/move games to external from internal storage.

I had this issue at first. I fixed it by connecting my external hard drive to the rear USB port. If you plug it into the one on the side, it will only work as a media device.

Which port did you connect your external hard drive to?
