Wifi connection issues

So I am having truble with my xbox one not connecting to my witless wifi because my "security protocol won't work", my xbox continues to say that my wifi is not wpa,wpa2, or wep. But here is the catch. I have had this xbox (bought it used from gamestop)
for about 4 years and have been useing xbox live and online gameplay. The other thing that confused me is that when it shows the security protocol stuff it does not show ip address, subnet mask, gatway, DNS, wireless MAC, and is showing that my port is 0 (you
can see all of these settings in the "advanced settings" of you network connection area) but this has just recently started to happen. When I first bought the xbox every now and then it would disconnect itself from my wifi and I would just go back in and connect
it again and it would be fine, but after a few months of that I ran into the issue of it saying I have a hardware problem and need to reset the witless wifi/connection chip (or whatever you call it) so I would do that and after a few weeks of it disconnecting
itself and then not wanting to connect again because I have a hardware problem me being young and wanting to play with my friends got on YouTube and searched up some stuff. Well the only conclusion I came up with is that I need a new wireless connection bod/chip
(once again im not sure on the exact name of it) so I scramble up enough money to buy one and I did and I installed it. Well that worked for about 4-5 months before my little amazon wifi bord complete died so being me I was fed up so I threw the original one
in and for sometime was completely fine no issues at all, up untill just recently this time its the absolute worse I will restart my xbox I will unplug it and let it sit for hours on end and yet it wont work and now when it tells me I need to restart my hardware
after its done it wont connect to my controller and I have to restart my xbox to get my controller to connect!

So what should I do, should I completely trash my xbox and get a new one or put some money into a new wireless bord?

But if anyone knows how I can fix this please share!

Hey there,

You mention that you are using a WiFi booster and you are getting a DNS error. You might want to try making sure that you are set to Automatic DNS. To do this follow these steps:

1) Go to Settings

2) Network Settings

3) Select your Wireless Network Settings

4) Select Configure Network

5) Make sure DNS Settings are set to Automatic.

6) If they are not set to Automatic, change them and then test your connection.

If you’re having issues with Wi-Fi, try connecting your console to the internet via an Ethernet cable. If your console connects, then you may need to update your router’s firmware. Check your router’s instructions for how to update your firmware. (Many routers
feature an abridged guide on the device). Follow the steps, and then power your console on and see if you can connect wirelessly.

Another thing i forgot to say in the question is that whenever it tells me to rest my wireless hardware it will not show any network name and the only thing i can do is put in a ssid but even when i do that it wont work

Try to delete your cache by holding down the power button until it shuts down and then restart that might help
