Wierd noises

Hi, it depends how you lean the disc in the slot. I would advise you not to hack the disc slot.

Sometimes the disc may be a little out of balance and it will cause that sound. You could try taking the disc out and putting it back it to see if that will help.

^^Like he said, check for things nearby. Otherwise, open it up and make sure nothing is loose, the give it a vacuum to clean up any muck and dirt.

When you install a game from a disc, it will make a noise, due to the speed the disc is spinning to install the game.

Would you mind telling us the current environment the console is in? Where it's located, what it's next to, is it on the floor or a dresser for example?

Generally the Xbox fan will work harder when downloading a game, especially from a disc since the optical disc drive spins the disc so the laser diode can de-code the data, allowing better cooling for higher demanding tasks.

Another thing that can contribute to this is power supply issues stemming from being connected to surge protector power strips. If you have you Xbox plugged into one, try to plug it directly into a wall outlet instead.
