Wi-Fi won't work on original 360.

I tried using a Ethernet cable and a WI-FI USB adapter I found in my garage. I tested them both of on my PC, and they worked. I'm not sure what to do.

What Xbox 360 are you talking about?

As using the console in a vertical position is your own choice, I always have mine horizontal.

The original 360 did not have built in Wi-Fi but a plug in Wi-Fi adapter is available. Whereas the later S and E models had built in Wi-Fi.

Wi-fi on my Xbox is not working

since December 23rd my Wi-Fi on the Xbox is not working but on my ipod and laptop Wi-Fi is working fine. I tried turning off and on my monitor and Xbox but it still didn't work. I bought the wireless adapter and still won't work.

I don't believe you can just use any wi-fi adapter you have for the console. You should be using an Xbox adapter.

An external wireless network adapter have to be compatible with the Xbox 360. In other words, the drivers has to be supported by the operating system, or else, there can't be any relationship between the two.

Mine won't either. It works fine wired but won't connect wirelessly. Would a Wi-Fi extender help fix the issue?

nope only devices that plug into the 360 ethernet jack like a wireless bridge will work on a 360. usb based wi fi devices are made for PC and or laptops to add wi fi to them if they do not have it built in and 9 times out of ten come with driver CD that
would not be able to be installed onto a 360 sorry. your ONLY option is to use the 360 wi fi or get the ethernet jack repaired by MS.

First up, are you connecting to the Internet via Wi-Fi or via an ethernet cable?

If connecting via Wi-Fi, are you using an adapter attached to an original 360 or are you using the built in Wi-Fi in the 360 S/360 E?

If using an adapter, is the adapter black or white?

If you're able, you should try to connect the 360 to your network via an ethernet cable (if you're not doing that already).

Also, you could try contacting your ISP to see if there's problems on their end that are affecting XBL traffic.
