    I've had my xbox one s for about 4 years now (got it as a Christmas present) and it's worked fine. However, whenever I try and plug in an external hard drive for added storage my xbox disconnects from the WiFi. Doesn't matter what brand of hard drive I use, it does it every time. And then it's an absolute HASSLE to get the WiFi connected again to my xbox afterwards. I don't know if it's the WiFi, because the hard drives work at my mates houses, or if it's the xbox itself. Either way can someone in the community just, yano.... HELP

    we have a Wi-Fi extender but it doesn't do much for the Wi-Fi itself my Xbox itself is cabled. the connection is fine it's just that it randomly disconnects

    Have you tried to use the external storage on the 3 different USB ports of the console?

    If you plug a different USB device, like a controller, same thing happens?

    Have you tried using a different network device? Like a mobile hotspot?

    Try this when it disconnect you from the network

    Perform a power cycle reset, follow these steps:

    Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

    Restart your Xbox One console. Press and hold the Xbox button in the center of your Xbox One controller to open the Power Center. Select Restart console and then select Restart. (If the console appears to be frozen, press and hold the Xbox button  on the console for 10 seconds, until the console turns off. After the console shuts down, touch the Xbox button on the console again to restart.)

    After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

    If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.
