Wi-Fi and Ethernet Problems for Over a Year

    Hi all,

I got my Xbox Series X in December of 2020. It is now January of 2022. I’m still having the same network issues.

When I boot up my Xbox (energy saving or instant on), it usually automatically connects to my WiFi. However, in a regular 2-3 hour gaming session, my console disconnects from the WiFi for a couple seconds and then reconnects like 5 times, kicking me from my party and online games. This only happens when I’m connected to my 5ghz WiFi band. If I connect to the 2.4ghz WiFi band, it stays connected, but 2.4ghz WiFi is soooo slow and lags horribly.

I’ve tried using several different Ethernet cords with several different routers over the last year of owning this console and it’s somehow WORSE. It either doesn’t recognize that the Ethernet cord is plugged in, or it constantly disconnects and reconnects even more often than WiFi for no apparent reason.

It’s not my router that’s the problem; everything else in the house connects to the internet just fine, including my old Xbox One that I’ve used for almost a decade. Here’s what I’ve already tried to solve this:

    - Restart console

    - Turn off console

    - Unplug power, wait, turn back on

    - Clear MAC address

    - Try alternate ports in advanced network settings

    - Factory reset my whole Xbox (twice!)

    - adjusting EVERY other setting imaginable

I waited this out the whole time because I didn’t want to deal with horrible supply chain issues and customer service, but I just realized my warranty expired in December of 2021.

Please help. I’ve spent a lot of money and time on this and I just want to play with my friends without disconnecting every couple minutes Wi-Fi and Ethernet Problems for Over a Year :(

    :)

Wi-Fi and Ethernet Problems for Over a Year

I have this same exact issue with my Series S although mine is still in warranty up until 22/02/2022.

I remember going through a chat function with an assistant in Jan 2021 and we came to a resolution of replacement and they put a service order where I had to post the Xbox within a month, but I stopped playing and never did. Now that order still appears when I go to 'My Devices' but I can't book another one and I want to get rid of this issue before my warranty expires.

I've tried going through the 'Contact us' section 7 times and every time it only gives me an option to leave my number for a callback but I never receive a call.

Please help - this is really frustrating.

Wi-Fi and Ethernet Problems for Over a Year

    Hi XBF-JoannaDark,

Is there any way I can request a replacement or repair through email? I've tried every imaginable software troubleshooting step and I don't want to sit through a two-hour phone call where I'm asked to do that all over again. I know my hardware is the problem because it's been faulty since day one and the "symptoms" I'm experiencing line up with tons of other peoples' stories online. I was stupid and didn't take advantage of my options while I was under my warranty because A.) I hoped the problems would subside on their own and B.) I didn't want to be without an Xbox for an extended period of time because I'm a nerd. I just want to see what my options are in terms of sending the physical console back for repair or replacement.

If calling support is truly my only option, I will do that of course. I mean no disrespect to you or any other customer service reps since I know you guys have to follow very strict guidelines. I just thought I'd ask in case there's a way to expedite the whole process, but if doing so would trouble you guys at all, please let me know and I'll just contact support. Thank you!
