Boa, you can get the same skills from many different things. For example, I can learn to cook through a cooking school, personal trial and error, or through age-old family recipes that have been handed down over the years. That doesn't make gaming any "less"
of a way to gain certain skills, just a different way. Besides, when it comes down to brass tacks, a skill is a skill, and will help, no matter how it is/was earned or gained.

Reading the article, it seems like the author is trying to justify gamers in the work force. It is almost like a debate... what life/career skills do gamers have? Unfortunately these skills are developed in there environment.... head set on, in front of
a TV. No real face to face communication, just head set to head set. By no means is this building any real life situation skills, IMHO.

Some people don't have the time to work as it interferes with their gaming time.

The trick is to work for yourself! Then you have a flexible work/gaming schedule.

Lol I went for a job at Asda was working on beers and wines sat in office one afternoon talking to manager about consoles and he tested my knowledge on me games and console stats offered me the section leader job on games and entertainment

I don't recall the article saying they were hired "just" because they were gamers. They were hired for their skills, which they may have received from playing games.

I recall reading an article a long time ago about a guy who got hired at a major company because on his application he had listed a bevy of skills that he had garnered over the past few years while leading a World of Warcraft clan. It had things like organizational
skills, leadership skills, communication skills, etc.

If someone games enough to garner some skills that can be applicable in the workforce, there is a chance there is the downside that this person is physically and socially unhealthy from all their alone time sitting in one place. Before I get attacked from
every direction, note that I said "there is a chance".
