    This is a problem that goes right down to the DNA of microsoft from the very beginning. Instead of providing customers with things they want, MS feels they can decide for consumers what is best for them. Its built into early operating systems, It reared
    its ugly head every time MS has completely reorganized systems that were working perfectly well to "make them better" but in the end the changes are either nominal at best, detrimental on average. It was there when MS had the audacity to run campaigns trying
    to convince consumers that they did not know what they want/like and if they blind tested Vista under Mojave they would like it. Then there was demanding customers grant access to chat/email/contacts and no end of personal info MS has absolutely no justification
    for asking for to use modern OSes on top of demanding you give away your legal rights?? They did it with Kinect forcing it on people despite it having huge practical application performance inadequacies. Yet again with Xbox one trying to force online requirements
    and block resell of games which they had to inch back but eventually just kept pushing forward after people stopped complaining.

    Now yet again here we are and yet another thing is being broken because MS in its infinite wisdom thinks they are entitled to dictate to customers how and where they use their services. What I speak of is the new push to launch the "Xbox game pass for PC"
    app. Now this was slowly breaking things apart before the official notification was pushed through, but now, MS & Xbox in its infinite wisdom has decided to demand that in order to do simple account level profile action of being able to message someone in
    your Xbox friends list, you cant possibly be allowed to do that in any old web browser any more. Why that functionality has to be embedded into the PC Gamepass app, dontchaknow?

    Now, you can still do other base profile level things. You can look at your profile, customize it, Look at your friends list, check their current status, etc. You know what you CANT do? Send them a message?!?!?! WHY?! What was the harm in maintaining web
    based messaging? What exactly was that hurting? WHY does that now have to be made inaccessible? Why do you have to rely on a phone app for messaging or have to install a stand alone gaming client onto PCs you may not want to do PC gaming on just to do friends
    list messaging when there was a perfectly fine and mostly functional messaging system already in place???? More importantly if you ARE going to force that client on consumers for that basic functionality WHY does the client REQUIRE ONLY the most current OS?

    Look, I have always been someone who sought out immersion into new technology. This is not a situation of someone who does not get it, or is being a ranty Luddite unwilling to change with the times. This is the same case that has always been there. Its
    not some wingnut old fart ranting because they cant accept change. Its that these changes are a DOWNGRADE in service, they are example of reducing accessibility and interoperability between platforms with a goal of further controlling how you are allowed
    to interact with tech. This is basically once again MS and in this case XB "Vader-ing" the deal and low key threatening consumers not to comply by withholding access until they DO comply. There is a word for that.

    Whats more over the decades this sort of behavior has repeatedly hurt MS and XB. If only in short term bursts. So why is this sort of thing still happening when there is not one good reason why they would remove customer access and effectively destroy a
    functioning system.

    Microsoft pushing unwanted things onto customers, Ignoring consumer feedback, dictating how customers can use their products. Why do they keep pushing these anti consumer edges, and why do we keep letting them get away with it?

    You really have that kind of option? I know I don't. Gamestop drove all the Mom & Pop shops out of business where I live a long time ago. Just did a search though and found 53 Gamestop stores within 25 miles of me. 53.5 miles equals 80 stores. The guys I
    used to BS with at the Mom & Pop shop I used to shop at? All Gamestop employees now.

    You really have that kind of option? I know I don't. Gamestop drove all the Mom & Pop shops out of business where I live a long time ago. Just did a search though and found 53 Gamestop stores within 25 miles of me. 50 miles equals 80 stores.
