Why won't my Xbox turn off?

This just started happening within the past few weeks.

Clicking the power button puts it to 'sleep' or whatever it's called when it's off but it's still making noise. So does turning it off by holding down the guide button.

The only way I can turn it off is by either hitting the power button literally like a dozen times or unplugging it for 10+ seconds (plugging it in any sooner just turns it back on).

I have background downloads turned OFF and nothing is ever downloading anyway so that shouldn't even matter in the first place.

How can I get it to turn off immediately ever time like it normally should?

xbox light not on

whenever I turn on my xbox 360, it won't light up. it turns on just fine, but the light won't show up and I can't connect my controller to the console. anyone knows why?

OK, sorry your having trouble with your Xbox! But maybe I can help... Usually when my Xbox is on and I turn it off it sleeps" and the light blinks every couple seconds! If this is the same no need to worry it will shut down completely after a minute or so!
It's kinda like turning off a computer (at least the right way lol) it needs a minute to shut down properly and stop all programs and turn off with out disturbing the Xbox is functions! It's normal! Hope this helps! ☺

do you have your console on instant mode if so your Xbox one fan should turn off if you have your Xbox one is on energy saving mode it should turn off within 5 minutes

I've changed my console to energy saving mode, and I the fan now turns off. Thank you for helping!

For me, it is an honor to write to you and try to help you in any way possible, for my part I will do my best to try to solve any questions/problems you are presenting.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having this problem, perhaps when cleaning your console you accidentally moved the power supply cable, therefore I suggest you reset the internal power supply, follow these steps:

1. Unplug the power cord from the console.
2. Wait 10 seconds.
3. Reconnect the cable to the console and then press the Xbox button on the front of the console.

If the console turns on, the internal power reset worked. Perform this step if the problem occurs again. And if the problem persists you can take a look at the following link where you can find more information regarding this problem:
