why won't my xbox one s verify update past 46%

I just bought a brand new Xbox one S and turned it on and connected to the internet. Then it wanted to update and now is stuck at 46% Verifying update, step 2 of 3. Now my xbox is making loud clicking sounds as I wait for it to move
or anything. Can anyone help?

Xbox stuck in update won't advance past 15%

my Xbox stuck in update won't advance past 15% . Can't do anything.hard reboot still can't advance past mandatory update.

Humm clicking sound could be a DOA HDD, If it really is stuck try turning it off an on again you may have to install an update via a usb stick if you do this Xbox One System Updates | Offline System Updates
if this doesn't work I would contact Microsoft Xbox One Support | Xbox 360 Support | Xbox Live and Billing Support

Another idea would be to try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this.

Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

However, as whiteandshiny says it could very well be a hardware issues.

This is more than likely the power brick has failed. Same thing happened to my x360 and the reason I updated to Xbox one X. Time to update to a new console I suggest.

Either the next gen Series S/X models or XBox one S/X.

You won't look back, but will wonder why you didn't update earlier.

Hello there!

In order to resolve your issue, I recommend that you try the troubleshooting steps provided below:

Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear it and the console should restart. It would definitely help if you could restart the internet router while the console is restarting.

Another step that you can try to resolve the issue, would be to remove and re-add your account. In order to do that please go to: settings> account> remove accounts> remove your account.

You could also try this troubleshooting step to clear any corrupted data from your device:

1- Go to settings on your Xbox

2- Select system

3-Select storage

4- Clear local saved games and your console will automatically restart

Note: When doing this step please make sure that you always play online so that all your data is saved to the cloud

If the issue still persists after going through the troubleshooting steps mentioned, I invite you to perform a quick power cycle by turning off the console and then unplugging all the cables. After 10-15 seconds plug all your cables back in and then restart your console.
