Why won't my game install?

Morning everyone!

I'm having an issue with installing a game on the Xbox app on my PC.

I started the install a couple days ago, the game is Crusader Kings 3 on game pass, but as the install started I saw that the Xbox app needed an update so, thinking it was probably more important, started and completed the update straight away. However, since I did that, the game is now saying Downloading 0% and is stuck at 54MB of 8.7GB with 0B/S. It is also preventing any other games from being installed.

I have tried logging out and back in on both Xbox and microsoft store. I have reset the microsoft store and reset and repaired the xbox app - this lead to a whole gaming services issue but that seems to be resolved now.

I have restarted my pc multiple times, and have fully uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I've even gone as far as removing the registry record and reinstalling xbox which I know has had some sort of effect because Microsoft Solitaire has appeared.

Please can anyone help as I am pulling out my hair?

Edit: I have also tried installing the the game via the microsoft store but nothing seems to happen. The button changes colour to show I clicked on it but no change anywhere else. The game also doesn't show in my companion app as it has now actually installed.

1 - Type cmd (Command Prompt) in the search bar of the Start menu and then click Run as administrator.

2 - Enter chkdsk /f/x/r/v

The system will ask you if you want to run CHKDSK after restarting the system, press Y on your keyboard and then type "Exit" and restart the computer, it will scan in DOS mode.

I am currently on W.11 and the version is 22H2. I've just checked and no available updates, there was an update yesterday I installed but unfortunately no change

The Xbox app is up to date according to Microsoft Store, and companion app is definitely installed and up to date

Hello again, if none of these methods worked and even through the Microsoft store you can't install your games, you will have to reinstall your system.

That is ridiculous. If you took a few seconds to search the forums, you would realize that 100s of other users are experiencing the same exact problem. You have nowhere near enough information to tell the user to "reinstall his system".
You are evidence that all of these "Independent Advisors" are just copying and pasting advice.

This is a serious problem with the microsoft software and many, many users are effected.

Microsoft needs to do something about this and chime in.

Hello Harry, are you playing on Pc, what would be your operating system, Win 10 or 11?

Have you checked if you have the latest version of Windows installed, at 22H2?

Also, make sure all Xbox Apps are up to date in the store, and make sure you have the Xbox Companion App installed, it works with the Xbox App.
