Why won't my console connect to the call of duty servers but will connect to every other...

Please try the following steps one at a time to resolve the issue:



Solution 1: Do a power cycle to clear the cache of the console



1. Turn off the Xbox console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.

2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds.

Important Be sure to wait 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.

3. Plug the console power cable back in.

4, Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox console.

Solution 2: Try to set up manual DNS settings and see if that sorts out the issue.

1. Please go to Settings > Network > Advanced Settings > DNS settings >> manual

2. Primary DNS: 208.67.222.222

3. Secondary DNS: 208.67.220.220

Solution 3: Please try setting up a mobile hotspot connection using your phone, then connect the console to the hotspot connection. Try playing the game after that and see if it works.



Solution 4: Check for any pending game updates.



Go to “My Apps & Games”, select Modern Warfare two, and press the more options button. From the list, select “Manage game & add-ons” and then “Updates”. Any updates will be available here.

call of duty DOES use servers, just not dedicated servers. why do you think it says "the call of duty servers are unavailable at this time. please try later" error message. the gamer connects to xbox live, then to a secondary connection namely the call of
duty servers, then its peer 2 peer.

That's why the best connection is chosen to host the game. Call of Duty does indeed use listen servers.

I'm not sure what you mean. There are no servers for the Call of Duty games, at least there are no dedicated ones. The Call of duty games use a client/server system to play online, this is different to a dedicated server. The 'servers' are other users
consoles, LIVE just sits in the middle to do matchmaking and keep players together. If your having speed issues, it's either your connection or the host you are connected to. I hope that makes sense.

Your NAT is part of your routers firewall. the status of the NAT can effect if you can connect to games or other users, it doesn't affect the speed of your connection.

If your NAT is open, it's not the ports. You might want to check that you also have

the Call of Duty ports open, in addition to the Xbox Live ports required, but looking at it they appear to be the same, except Call of Duty also calls for 3075 for UDP and TCP.

But there is a lot more to network performance than NAT and ports (though, those are important). The speed of your connection, the servers your connecting to, other people in the match's connection and latency to the servers, and more all play a part.

You mentioned you used a port checker site, and I'm curious what site that is? It's possible that it's checking details on a piece of equipment that your ISP has, opposed to your local resource, which is why it might display the wrong information.

Do you know what speed your connection is? Fast.com is a good resource made by Netflix to test your connection speed. It won't show the whole picture, but will give a good idea. Because that will test against servers they have, not necessarily the servers
