Why was my gamertag automatically changed without my notification?

Could I have not at least be given a warning before it was automatically changed? If my gamertag was inappropriate and flagged, then why was I even able to use that gamertag initially? My original gamertag was Fannny. I assume it's
because it was deemed "inappropriate". I decided to use my free gamertag change to change it to something else other than the one automatically assigned to me but it says I've already used it even though I never have. I find this unfair because I can't use
my real name without being flagged and I lost my privilege to a free gamertag change.

Gamertag changing and $$$$

Hello,

I've tried to change my gamertag because my son is going to use the Xbox one.

But it says that I have to pay for that.

I've never changed it before and I know that I can chnge it without paying one time.

So why do I have to pay if I never changed. My actual Gamertag, was automatically created a few years ago.

because you already used it when you created the first name

You only get one when you first create the account and you receive an autogenerated one

Fyi you aren't allowed to repost offencive names on forums

And yes if you want a customized name again you must pay

You were warned.The code of conduct you agreed to when starting your account is your warning.

That name is not a auto generated gamertag so you used your free name change when you picked that gamertag.

It may be your name but that word also means something else which would be my guess as to why it was changed.

You can appeal it by filing for a case review on the enforcement site here if eligible.

If you want to change the name you were given then you will have to pay.

Typically it would only be changed like that if you were given a forced gamertag change by the enforcement team because the tag violated the code of conduct. You can check http://enforcement.xbox.com to
see if that is the case.
