Why was I charged twice for Xbox Gold on one account?

Hi all,

I set out to try xbox gold when I purchased my xbox with a free 1 month trial. After deciding I liked it, I purchased a 12 month subscription. Little did I know that the auto renewals would continue even though I had already bought Xbox gold at this point!.

How was this allowed to happen? It's been 6 months and it seems predatory! Clearly, I wanted to have xbox gold but why wouldn't a full 12 month subscription cancel out the monthly renewal?

I have talked with customer support and they were able to help refund 2 months of the monthly auto renewal but i'm still out of pocket quite a fair amount of money.

I'm sure this breaches EU law and I'm going to have to keep escalating this. Any help or tips as to who I should contact or whether UK trading standards would be able to help?

Charged twice??!?

Hey, I renewed my Gold membership on November 27th, 2011. And now I just recently got charged again December 1st? Why was I charged twice?????

Why am I getting charged twice a month

I spent $21 and it charged me twice. Why does it charge me twice this is not the first time this has happened.

Let's check the transaction on your end, can you please sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders and check if you can see two transactions from there? If you can s two transactions you can request a refund by signing in to https://xbox.com/refunds.

But if you're seeing only one transaction you may need to reach out to your bank so they can validate the other charge.

What probably happened is the automatic payment was going though at the same time you were making your purchase. You can stack up to three years of LIVE time at once. If you want to dispute this, call up phone support (support.xbox.com/contact-us).
Otherwise, the time will stay on your account and you won't be charged next year. So really it's up to you, but my feeling here is you will get two year's worth of time here.
