Why was Ascend pulled?

The gaming press hasn't explained this very well yet...This was a very nice and simple F2P hack-n-slash with RPG elements. I was hoping we'd see much more of these...

They broke the 360 version with an update. Completely unplayable if you downloaded the latest version new or something like that. MS refuses (ha) to sell 'buggy' games, so they de-listed it until Signal fixes it. Signal said screw you guys, STEAM.

Supposedly you can play it if you started it already. I haven't tried.

Sorry for the double post. Just tried it. You can still play it if you already have it, but I wouldn't take odds on being able to do so for long.

 

Could someone clear cache removing the buggy update and play it again? Wouldn't rejecting an update force you to play offline (which no way to do since I thought this was an online only game)?

 

I haven't checked the game out in a while so I don't know what's going on with it. I should check it out and see if it works for me.

The issue was that a game was discontinued from Xbox Live because it was broken....wait thats not really an issue is it?

Microsoft has confirmed that the server support will close on November the 18th as well.

Not a big deal for me really, I could never get past the title menu when it tried to update. Broken POS.

 

Yea it was F2P, doesn't mean people didn't spend money on it.

 

They had a choice..... Pay to win is the real issue

 

Not all free to play games are pay to win, have you ever played Ascend? I haven't so I can't really get into it. But I have played free to play games that are not pay to win.

 

@Chomsky: It was only affecting new players. Existing players didn't have a problem with the update.

regarding pay to win: It can be since you can buy spells and pay to upgrade them immediately out of the gate. You'll have better success at the beginning, but you can learn how to avoid spells & how to counter them. The AI's are simple. I never paid, could
still beat most of the AI's I went up against. If I couldn't, I could within a level or two.

 

It needed some tuning but the game was good and fun to grind with. Microsoft should of worked with them and waiting for the Badlands release and Co-Op. They dropped the ball here I think.
