Why some people think you can used a real gun by playing video game.

For starter. There no heart shoots in almost all them. Die instantly inother places. When shooting at the spaine. Person dose not claips. Guns do not jam up. And cue to unjam the gun. Bad guys have unlimited ammo. It takes more shoots to killsomeone in the
game. And how to hold a gun. And many more. So how video game teaches how used agun with those logic holes?

What violence though? Just because a person of color is holding two guns doesn’t mean it’s violent. Guns aren’t used just for hurting people, they can be used in sport or portrayed in video games. What’s so violent about that?

I'm glad Glen Beck is off of Fox news. I loled when he showed a mouse and a real gun. It baffles me that people think video games cause violence when all they do is lock up time. I can see if one plays it to much they need a release and a break from it but
99.9 percent of people playing these games won't go on a killing spree in real life.

 

Well the definitive answer to this is that they don't teach people how to use or even operate a weapon. They only simulate the feeling of using one. The closest game I have that come to some realism is Sniper Elite due to the use of bullet ballistics in
the game, but it is still a stretch from the real thing. The average everyday person off the street can't be like, "I've used that gun in Call of Duty... Sure I know how to use it." But in reality they don't. There are multiple, and I mean MULTIPLE, reasons
I shouldn't give the 18 year down the street a M248 Saw and tell him to shoot me a few times. "Yea I'll be fine, I'll regen health." People understand it is a video game not real life. We don't want you to become a eviscerated pile of body parts cause you
saw someone do it in a game.

 

There was an episode of 'Penn and Teller's <not saying the name, as it's a curse word>' about video game violence where they were
at a rifle range, and gave a young kid the same high powered rifle as is used in many shooters. The kid could hardly handle the weapon, and was visibly shaken after firing it. Even though he was only shooting a static target.

 

Part of it is I think that some military games are tagged as simulators, and the point of them is to train you to do something.

 

Video games are an escape.

Games like "Battlefield" and "Call Of Duty" are pure fantasy.

If they ever made a realistic video game nobody would want to play it because none of your shots would ever hit and your death would be permanent.

But that's what video games are. Fantasy. Fun fantasy to entertain us with a side order of social conditioning to believe that at a certain level there's a 'fun' to be found in war.

 

Dakrk, I just went over this with you yesterday. Any time you ever wonder why someone thinks, or says, or does something stupid, the answer is, because they are stupid. Don't try to understand them or reason with them. Just shake your head and laugh to yourself
because you know the truth. They are stupid.

 

As a military vet, I will say that running around in a game with a gun is a lot different than handling one in real life. I had to go through some pretty extensive training when a few others and myself had to guard our tactical fighter wing headquarters
overseas. We had to crawl around, roll, squat, run, etc..all while carrying our weapon (M-16) and wearing about 25 lbs of gear and there is no comparison.

 

oh yeah, and we had to go through the annoying disassembling/cleaning process at the end of each day if we shot our weapon, even once. No gun maintenance in a game.

 

Ugh. Rifle maintenance.

Amazing that the ultimate barrel cleaner was Shampoo.

Slinking off to the showers with your barrel under a towel...

Along similar lines, one of my hobbies is archery. Playing the new Tomb Raider did not want to make me go around silently taking people out with my recurve bow. I also used to go target shooting with a scoped rifle and clay pigeon shooting with an auto 12
gauge. The gun physics on titles like Call of Duty makes me laugh, quick scoping, seriously? lol

It`s just one of those things that the media use as an excuse, "He went on a drive-by killing spree because he played Grand Theft Auto", or "Call of Duty turned him into a gun wielding maniac"

 

On one level "GTA" is nothing more than a murder simulator.

Put that game in the wrong hands and it has the potential to be a factor in de-sensitizing them to violence and crime and warping their sexual development.

You can't completely blame the game but at the same time it's equally stupid to pretend they don't have an impact on the impressionable and the veunerable.

Most unfortunate of all is that too many parents simply have no idea what their kids are playing.

 

So true. I had no idea there were so many clueless parents. What the hell are the parents doing? Working, but then what? Just sitting down in front of the tv, oblivious to what their kid is doing in the next room?

 

Bizarro/Az, they are buying games made for ages 18+ while their age group 10- son is standing right next to them, EB/GS don't care. The amount of times I've seen this amazes me, guess *** is hereditary. It's a touchy Subject here as there are a few young
adult parents that think the rules don't apply to them.
