Why only 5 minutes on the Game DVR???

The ability to record game footage on Xbox One without having to purchase a capture card is great. Although it can be really frustrating that gamers like me who are starting a YouTube channel can't record game clips for more than 5 minutes. I can't afford
a capture card at the moment. If we could record for as long as we want using the Game DVR, this would help heaps with starting my gaming channel and I am sure it would help tons of others. Please remove the 5 minute recording limit on the Xbox One Game

Field report request

The only reason games last 10-15 minutes is because one team always gives up within the first 5 minutes and stops going for the objectives.

That is why 90% of games end with lopsided 200-0 scores. I can count on my fingers the number of close games I've played where the winner only has 30 or less tickets left.

why would they only allow 5 minutes of recording?

what if i did something cool in the mddle half of the game and said xbox record in the beginining?

You can only record gameplay, ie when playing a game.

Also you don't need to start a recording through Game DVR, you only need to pick End Clip & select 5 minutes.

Also make sure you have Game DVR enabled in Setting > preferences > enable the DVR function.

Wait wait.. when you snap DVR can't you only still go to the future 5 minutes, it doesn't just magically have the last 5 minutes right when you launch it.

Thanks for the answer buddy. But you are wrong. I just figured it out, and will post here just in case others have the same doubt. The thing is that I was telling "Xbox, record this game" when all I had to do was saying "Xbox, snap game DVR". The first expression
is a shortcut of game DVR which record only the last 30 sec. But when you snap the game DVR app you have much more options. You can either record the last moments up to 5 minutes using "Finish clip" or start recording a new clip from where you are up to 5
minutes ahead. There are many time options between 30 sec and 5 minutes. After you finish recording you can either use Upload Studio to edit your clip or just watch it at the Upload app. The whole point is that I did not know that the app that recorded the
clips was Game DVR and not Upload, that is why I was not finding the time options. Many thanks to the dashboard help topics!!

I think the game DVR is on automatically.... and it always looping.... when you start a new clip... it kind of rsets the 5 minute clock to that point..... but yeah Fatal.. you need to open the Game DVR (not upload studio) and do what flare said....

the luxury of having the XB on while watching TV...

when you GOTO GAME DVR.. you have 3 options.... END CLIP OW, START NEW CLIP, SHOW MY CLIPS.... the END CLIP NOW then has 5 options... keep the last 30 seconds 45 seconds 1 minute 3 minutes or the full 5 minutes...
