I'm sorry but the chips within the hardware ARE programmed and in the current XBone they are programmed for the original idea that MS had.

I never mentioned "Backward Compatibility". MS are having to use updates to overcome the original programming within the Chips that are in the XBone, thus "Similar to emulation software".

One more update and it could put the XBone back to what MS originally intended it to be. That's why I will wait a year or so before buying one. I want to see what direction they take.

It sounds like it's enrolled in the insider program, where you get to test early, unfinished builds of the system software. You will get way more updates if your console is enrolled in that.

If it is that, you can opt out. When you opt out, a ~4GB update will be rolled out to your console that puts it on the current public version of the system software, then you'll go back to getting an update approximately once a month.
