Why no Cross-Play with physical versions of games?

I wanted to ask a question and to yell out about something!

Why do we pay the same price on digital copies than physical copies if we don't have right of have it on windows 10? It's not difficult to put a code in the box of the game.

If I buy Gears of war 4 collector edition at 250$ I don't have the pc version, and someone else take the digital version at 60$ can have it on pc ?

    Where's the justice ?

It's amazing that people don't complain about this...

A lot of people in the world prefer to have the physical copies of the games or collector's edition instead of digital downloads that they are not really possessed (You lost your account you lost all what you pay for).

Forcing people to buy two times the game AND to buy digital copies is an absolute outrage.

    :)

Hey BatmansMobile! Xbox versions of the game do not have cross-platform play with other versions currently. Windows 10 edition can cross-platform play with the Pocket Edition. More info can be found

    here
    . Thanks!

    Cross-play

    Hi all

As the time gets closer to the release of Forza Horizon 3 i was wondering about the cross-play thingy.

Does cross-play Works if i buy the game as a physical copy or does cross-play only apply on digital purchased game?

    Best Regards

    Sonny

no one here in the forums makes those type of business/marketing decisions. i would guess that the reason for this is to promote the purchase of digital games instead of physical copies, but it's hard for anyone here to say for sure why it is this way.

I can tell you why... Microsoft (and everyone else) wants their customers to buy digital versions of the game, because they keep ALL the profit from the sale, and there is no manufacturing cost, shipping cost, retailer/distributor (middleman) cut, and lastly,
    NO DISCOUNTS (or rarely).

Also, there is no copy owned that one can resell as used (Microsoft gets no cut of used game sales, so they want to prevent that as best they can without directly pissing off their retailers, especially GameStop.

Lately, retailers like Amazon and Best Buy also sell boxed copies at 20% off with their club subscriptions (Prime and BB Gamers Club). They also often discount boxed copies much more quickly than MS will discount the digital copy, or even have a sale which
    is rare.

For some reason, Microsoft is handling the method of pushing people to buy digital in a strange way.... the obvious, sensible way to do it would be to discount the digital version up front, since it is inherently worth less - there is no physical product,
the customer must use their own bandwidth to download it, and they don't actually own it and can't resell it as used.

Obviously, then, digital should cost less, because it is worth WAY less. However, for some strange reason (I assume it's mostly pressure from retailers who don't want MS to undercut their profits by making the digital version an easy choice), Digital copies
cost MORE up front right at release (20% generally and sometimes more, since you should never be buying boxed retail copies of games at full list price or you're dumb) and get discounted much less often and take longer to go down in price at all, and have
less sales with significantly worse sale pricing compared to retail boxed copies and other digital platforms like Steam who have great pricing and frequent sales with heavy discounts.

It's just the usual MS stupidity at work here, unfortunately. Though I do APPLAUD them for allowing me to play XBOX ONE exclusives on my PC now, and getting a copy for both platforms is nice, I just wish it was on boxed AND digital, or that digital costed
less like it should... it's just too bad i have to pay $60-$100 for them rather than $48 or much less for most of hte PC games I buy through Steam key resellers like GMG and G2A.

Why is crossplay forced on Call Of Duty MW2?

Why is the Xbox version not allowed to disable cross play?

Microsoft store does not show my purchase of Forza Horizons 4 Ultimate Edition for me to download

Since you bought a physical copy, you won't be able to play on the PC. Only digital editions are cross play at this moment.

    From the troubleshooting section (https://support.xbox.com/en-CA/games/game-titles/xbox-play-anywhere-help):

"Make sure you’re playing a digital version of the game. You won’t be able to use Xbox Play Anywhere with a game disk. "

    Sorry man. :(

    Achievements

The PC version of the game doesn't have achievements.

Since the game isn't a Play Anywhere title and does not support cross-saves which is why you have a separate save for the PC than the Xbox.
