Why no Backwards Compatibility?

Obviously it was a business decision, but I don't understand how not having backwards compatibility benefits MS. I thought that was a great feature of the Xbox 360 being able to play old Xbox games.

I would have already bought the Xbox One if it played my Xbox 360 games.

:)

2. Are we going to be able to play 360 games through the cloud?

Agreed Galactic. Why would you get rid of your 360 knowing that the one doesn't play 360 games...there is no backward compatiblity.

Free games with gold?

Because there is no backwards compatibility between the One and the 360. It really isn't hard to understand why we can't have 360 games.

Why no Backwards Compatibility?

Look at that horse over there --------------->Its been beaten to death. So your buying decision was based on bacwards compatibility? Thats a pretty lame reason not to buy one.

simple solution keep your 360! as its trade in value is peanuts anyway and it goes well with the Xone when connected together simples!!

not now it isnt,£60 at game for a new slim console and give away all your paid for DLC etc not a great price at all and also MS stated that the 360 would be looked after for at least 5 more years so it makes sense to keep your old console if personal finances
allow.

Why no Backwards Compatibility?

I understand that I'm in the minority but backwards compatability has never been a must have feature. Once I've beat a game I rarely go back to it. It's like been there done that for me. If people want to keep playing the same game forever why do they even
need more than one game?

And I totally agree 100% with ll Boldyboy ll.

At the end of the day i love my new Xone its graphics really impress i have windows 8 on my old laptop so am used to the interface, Forza 5 is fantastic just hope ppl start playing again like they did in previous installments and stop smashing each other
off the road instead of using their breaks,i bought Ghosts again for my son as game only offered me £18 for my 360 version and going against their £10 trade in to step up to One version,i play the One most nights work permitting but my son still plays gta5
as i do on occasion and that game is new trade in is next to nowt,we even had a quick blast together last night on RS3 which was games with gold(i did play it when it first came out) just think of the One as an extension to the 360 for now they compliment
each other.
I don't understand how not having backwards compatibility benefits MS.
Less than 5% of 360 owners used original XBOX BC. It would have been costly to add for a small number of people to use.
Eh, 1/4 at launch, and at the end of a two year program to add BC updates the 360 ended up only being compatible with about half of the games released on the Xbox One. I have plenty of original XBOX
titles that don't work on the 360.
Replacing a $150-$250 console with a $500 console to play old titles doesn't follow.

Is it really that costly to allow the console to play older games? the 360 was my first console and I actually purchased some original Xbox games for it. I'm just saying that I think it could only help sales for MS. I don't see the benefit of not having
backwards compatibility. Unless of course it is actually a very expensive process?

12. It was not really a "Business decision". The 360 and Xbox One are like trying to run a windows program in Android. It is just not going to happen. The 360 used power PC while the xbox One uses X86 that is just like your PC. This entire backwards compatibility
will only upset people for a while. Once the new games roll out less and less people will care. I am all about moving on and could care less about my old 360 games. I have played them already and am ready for next gen games.
Is it really that costly to allow the console to play older games?
It would have required a 360 inside every console, similar to how the PS3 provided PS2 compatibility.

Which is exactly why the PS3 on release was at a ridiculous price.

15. Why BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY is not included for dummy's:

Xbox 360 architecture =/= Xbox One Architecture

Including Xbox 360 Architecture = Higher Cost

Higher Cost = More people like OP will not have the $$$ to buy console
