why my xbox app is showing "xbox needs an update, but we're unable to apply the update now."?

suspecting that the update is affecting the functionality of the Xbox app. Also, can you check if there's an update available for Xbox Game Bar in the Windows Store?

Does this sound familiar.....For the past 3 days I've been unable to access the game. The initial start screen shows (with the circling dots) after the splash screen with the tiles show & there it stays. I've tried everything I can find on forums - all
W8 updates applied - all App update applied. Is there a simple answer I've missed somewhere

updating your Xbox One console offline via the steps presented in that guide.

Currently, many people all over the world are unable to download the latest May Update. For example, many of my friends have this notification in their desktop:

"The Windows 10 may 2019 update is on its way. We're offering this update to compatible devices, but your device isn''t quite ready for it. Once your device is ready, you'll see the update available on this page. There's nothing you need to do at this time."

By this statement it shows that (1) there are no issue with the PC nor the version of the windows (2) should be able to run the latest programs and apps.

Are you saying that my friend who has this issue can not use the XboX app and thus play together with us?

Unfortunately, none of the proposed solution worked.

An additional information:

The Windows updater works and installs windows updates.

For past week Xbox App was showing error 0x80070426 but did start after few tries.

At some point Microsoft store stopped getting updates for all of the other apps, and when it showed available updates, It was unable to start downloading them.

After I uninstalled xbox app and Microsoft Gaming Services all the other updates started downloading and installing. Now after reinstalling the Xbox app and enabling gaming services, everything works apart from the Xbox app which shows error 0x80070424 and doesn't start.
