Why isnt popular software from google and apple not on Xbox?

Widely used software from google and apple, like chrome and itunes, doesnt appear in the xbox store. Why is that? Could it be that because they are competitors in the technology market they dont accept popular software from google and apple (excluding youtube)?

I just hope they do it right. Dont rush to be first to the market and your hardware isnt up to par with what Sony, Nintendo and or Google and Apple will release.

I don't disagree but to be fair I always have a hard time getting Apple devices to play nicely with others. My Google & Microsoft devices/software can work in tandem just fine. Apple doesn't want to play nice. LOL.

 

There's two sides to the story: Microsoft controls what can be sold in their store, and developers also control what platforms they want to write their programs for.

For the former, it's not exactly in Microsoft's best interest to allow a competitor to generate revenue through the Xbox platform if it ultimately
diverts the revenue from Microsoft. There can be exceptions in some cases, but this is the general idea. Microsoft is heavily promoting Edge for web browsing, so I'd imagine that they wouldn't be thrilled with allowing Chrome on the Xbox. Apple iTunes
is also a media distribution platform, which directly conflicts with Microsoft's music and video offerings on the Xbox store.

For the latter, the developer has to determine if it's going to be profitable enough in investing resources to develop the app on the Xbox platform. The Xbox interface is principally navigated with a controller, so most applications aren't necessarily going
to translate well in terms of UI. It is possible to have Chrome on the Xbox, but the above reason is likely for it not happening any time soon. As far as iTunes is concerned, I've never heard anybody go "I'm going to use my Xbox to sync music to my iPod!"
- I'd much rather use a regular computer for that.
