Why isn’t my HDMI working

HDMI port randomly stopped working. i can tell it’s giving signal to my tv and monitor when i plug it in but still no display, was working fine 12 hours ago

Hi Trystan,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your HDMI. Do you have a spare HDMI cable that you can use to test if the issue is coming from the cable?

To make sure that what you are experiencing is not related to your device cache, I would recommend that you perform a power cycle. Please note that this is different from a regular restart, Kindly follow the steps below.

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 50 seconds.

Important: Make sure that you wait at least 50 seconds. This step resets the power supply.

3. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

If you don't see the green boot-up animation when the console restarts, repeat these steps. Make sure that you hold the power button until the console completely shuts down.

Important If your console is in Sleep mode, the above steps will shut the console off completely. Sleep mode, or the ability to turn on your console by saying "Xbox on," won't be enabled until you restart the console.

The port might be fried try going to a repair shop or call Microsoft for one of their guys to come and fix it.

Sorry to hear about your issue with your Xbox. Let's try some steps that might help. Kindly turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds and then plug the console power cable back in. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on then try it again.

Yes the Xbox still connects to my old projector just fine. But it is not a 4K projector, it projects at 1080p. I’ve tried another cable and it doesn’t seem to affect it all. Same message. The cable also works when connecting my laptop and other things to my new projector. The xbox is the only thing that isn’t working. That is why I’m thinking that the hdmi signal is not fast enough to notice the Xbox is connected. Maybe a hdmi receiver would help?
