Why isn’t my external hard drive working no more?

Can you try clearing your system cache by performing a power cycle by following the steps below?

To do this:

For Xbox One:

- Go to the Home screen.

- Press the Menu button on the controller.

- Select Settings.

- Go to Sleep Mode & Start-Up

- Select Shut Down.

For Series X|S:

- Open Settings on Xbox.

- Select the General tab.

- Click on Power Options.

- Under the “Options” section, click the “Shutdown now” option.

- Click the “Shut down” button.

Once done and once the console is off, remove the external hard drive.

Once done, power up the console and see if the issue continues after plugging it back in.

why wouldn't a external hard drive work through a usb drive on the xbox360 slim?

That is really unfortuniate. I myself also have an external hard drive and it works just fine. FYI I am in the Beta Update Ring on Xbox, so maybe it's already fixed in the next update! My External Hard Drive is from Xbox and that could also mean why it
is working.

my Xbox works fine without the external hard drive but when I connect the hard drive it says no signal being received tries to start but won't used to work fine before the last update why is this?
