    Why isn't crossplay optional, as promised ?


    So back in the day, when crossplay was first mooted a few older/perhaps wiser Xbox members said-

    'Yeah, that sounds cool. Well, as long as it's optional, because the PC has just stupid amounts of cheating, so nobody wants to be
    forced to play like that all the time, that would be horrific !'

    To which I believe someone from XBL (possibly MN ?) said-

    'Don't worry, of course crossplay will be optional..' or words to that effect.

    So my question is- Why did they lie ? And why are XBL now doing the weasel with slopey shoulders thing of 'Well, you know, it's really up to the developers...' or the classic 'I guess that's just the way things are heading...'

    It's YOUR platform MS, so they're YOUR rules. No ?

    So stop lying, grow a pair and deliver what you promised, ie- OPTIONAL crossplay.

    Oh right... because Microsoft don't actually own Xbox/XBL, and also
    don't     have a strict set of rules that all games have to adhere to ?

    So please don't tell me that MS couldn't insist that it IS an option for every game. Because that's just laughable. Much like Microsoft throwing XBL players under the Bus to keep devs happy.

    Yes sometimes it is their decision. But other times it is the developers. Fortnite determines its crossplay not xbox.

    I don't care one bit if they want to implement it... as long as it's an OPTION for me to turn it off !

    But I can see that this is falling on deaf ears. So it's time (after 18 years) to ditch Xbox. Because its one truly useful USP, ie- NOT being stuffed full of 'script kiddies', is patently now useless.

    Why should it be up to developers ?? I didn't buy an Xbox, and XBL sub, so
    someone else     can decide if I want to play with 'script kiddie' cheats on the PC all the time !

    What gives them the right to do that ? It isn't what a) I was promised, or b) signed up for.

    It depends on the game because there are those who can activate or deactivate your crossplay
