Why isn't anything done about the fake top scores on leaderboards?

seems to be the game devs that are taken over by bigger corps, ie microsoft in this instance, then its all about the monthly paycheques. the only company that seems to care about there game somewhat is Rare.

Definitely....Playground crowbarred a Steam release into FH4 back in April and the game hasn't been the same since and it's destroyed the Online racing yet PGG have decided to completely ignore the issue. And Steam basically destroyed the Eliminator mode as well as now it's littered with hackers from Steam.

Once they got the money from the Steam release, they basically stopped supporting the game

In-game leaderboards are down to the Developers of the game in question to fix/clean if they feel like it.

I play forza Horizon 4 and the game is littered with hacked times, scores etc (the Club leaderboard for the game is clear it's hackers...one even is advertising hacks as part of the club name!) but Playground Games does almost nothing about it, besides occasionally removing a hanful of times off of some leaderboards. And yet they will ban a player who accidentally hits another player once in an Online race

Some developers (mostly Indie ones) are very proactive and do a really good job at removing hackers and stuff that's been hacked....but a lot just simply don't care. Seems to be smaller developers are much better until they get bigger and then they just stop caring...Playground are an example of this where, over time, they put less and less care into their games: once they have your money, they just don't care anymore

Question and discussion. Both. How do others feel about the Leaderboards having invalid entries in them?

Players posting scores that show they completed the game in zero seconds, yet are in the top 10 on the leaderboard. Microsoft needs to really need to do some research and development on figuring out how to make save games more secure, so people can't take a hacked save game, and pop all the achievements at once, and also get on the top 10 leaderboards with fake scores. Place it all in the cloud or something and encrypt it heavily, and don't allow any locally saved games on the consoles themselves.

I personally hate leaderboards.

The only thing they prove is who is the best modder, glitcher and cheater.

On the 360 there are absolutely no leaderboards that are genuine. Usually to top few thousand scores are fake.

In COD to top few thousand scores are modded. Even the xbox one version has modded scoreboards.

I was glad when I saw there was no leaderboards in Titanfall. As leaderboards will mean those same type of people who think they are awesome having modded scrores on the top of the leaderboard will ruin titanfall by cheating.
