    Why is XBOX WIFI speed so crappy


    I have extremely good router and a very good WIFI signal in my house, Standing in the exact same room with my XBOX, other devices can get 20-25Mbps.

    Yet the xbox itself, despite showing 4/5 bars WIFI signal seems to have a totally crap download speed, I ran a speedtest from internet explorer and it said less than 2Mbps. This means I cannot even stream video to my xbox.

    Does anyone know why the WIFI is no bad on my xbox, yet is so good on all other devices in the house, any way to improve it ?

    Really getting out of hand! Lol.

    I just do not get it... I have no cap.. $140 a month for phone/internet/cable with no cap with 101/50 speeds, 4 premium cable channels.. unlimited wifi that connects at 40/20 even on my crappy Nokia Windows phone..Can someone explain to me why this is not
    standard for everyone?

    speed test was on wifi labtop/ wired connection to xbox , if it have a short why is it I still can go On live?

    Could be interference, or the channel that your WiFi is operating on. Either way, using the Xbox's IE is a terrible way to get network statistics. Use the network test in Network Settings to get a better average. The bars that it shows again, is average,
    not real time, your signal could be jumping from a good SNR to a bad SNR, but the average would show that the signals are 'okay'. Keep in mind Mbit and Mbyte are two different units of measurement. Ideally you'd want a wired connection to avoid any disturbances
    in your quality of internet service.

    I agree, check your speed with speedtest.com. I have Comcast also and I always check my speeds, I usually get 30Mbps down and 10Mbps up, I'm also on WiFi, but both my router and network adapter on my Xbox are wireless-n, so never any lag for me. It could
    be your upload speed though, so that's why speedtest is handy.

    problems connecting to xbox live for the past several days

    I've added a wifi booster in the problem room. Even with 100% wifi signal, the download speed was terrible (0.01 mbps). I've connected the xbox one to the wifi repeater via an ethernet cable and the problems seem to have cleared (download speed of 13.9
    mbps). Has the wifi card in the xbox started to go bad?
