Why is Xbox Live throttling the WAN connection in general?

I'm now playing for nearly 2 years on Xbox 360. Unfortunately I'm not satisfied with my online performance. Interistingly I just found the internal connection test a few days ago and I'm shocked.

So I have got 50 MBit's down and 20 MBit's up with a latency of 25 ms. I could verify this with several speedtests via my PC, Smartphone or tablet. But my Xbox is totally freaking out. It shows me about 25 MBit's down, 10 MBit's up and a weird latency of 200
- 240 ms

My connection to Xbox Live is established and NAT is fine. When I check the Xbox performance solution I'm wondering that Microsoft sets the ping to "less
than 150 ms"

150 ms? That is not playable in most PC games. When I play some shooters on PC I got a ping of 20 - 40 ms

So for me there is an occassion to think that the Xbox is not able to use my full bandwith and speed, because of it's own slow-performance OS.

Is that quite normal?

Downloads "getting stuck"/taking an unreasonable amount of time to download.

you should check the connection with the router maybe thats it,that or your ISP is throttling your connection because "15Mbps" is less than half your speed.you should probably give them a call

 

How slow is this thing

could be your ISP throttling your connection to live for downloading a huge amount of data, you need to see if your ISP has a fair usage policy as they may be using traffic shaping to keep every body near you on a stable connection. Who is your ISP.

 

MetallElefant08, internal test uses for testing Microsoft servers, PC or tablet at speedtest.com uses nearest servers to You. So this mean, we can't compare this numbers just because it all about network latency.

What real latency You have in games, You can only check in particular game.

 

OK, I just check from PC my latency to the Xbox Live servers in the USA and the latency is really about 200 ms.

So, I have another question. If I'm playing FIFA 15 for example which is really relying on the ping because it is P2P... and my Xbox Live connection is disturbed during the game the match will abort. So I can assume that I have got a static connection to
Xbox Live.

What kind of packages will be sent in the background and isnt't that harming to my connection and gaming experience?

 

MetallElefant08, peer-to-peer or dedicated server not matter, all network connections has some parameters that critical for game experience, like latency, jitter or bandwidth.

Xbox Live Services always used for multiplayer games, even if connection type is peer-to-peer for clients. To create such connections, Xbox Live provide helper servers and some basic services to do all that multiplayer magic. So if You loose connection to
Xbox Live, You loose connection to friend console too.

Xbox One always is sending low bandwidth traffic at background, like keepalive packets or statistical data. Packets are small and sending is not often, so this can't harm Your connection or game experience.
