why is Xbox Gamebar screen recording quality so terrible?

I play Forza Horizon 4 in 1440p ultrawide, with a reasonable framerate of 240. I want to record my screen without any sort of third party software so I try out the Xbox Gamebar in-built recording. It seemed perfectly fine, but the recording is in 480p or something and is also at a very low framerate, now I am forced to download some other recording software so I can create videos in my native resolution. Is the Gamebar recording quality a thing for everyone or is it just an issue specific to me?

built-in recording depends on the software and hardware that exists on your GPU as it's using its tools to compress the frame buffer

Hi Adrian,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I understand that you want to change the recording quality of your Game Bar. The current output that you have is set to low. You can change this setting in Windows 11 through:

Settings > Gaming > Captures

Set the Video Frame rate to 60 fps

Set the Video Quality to High

gamebar only records the main screen,

Gamebar on my pc will record steam gaming and youtube but will not record crave tv, netflix or tsn(audio with black screen).
