Why is this Gamertag still around?

The Gamertag: „Gekko“ is not used since years.

I would love to use it by myself.

But it’s still aktiv.

Is there any chance to make it free?

I am a activ Gold member over many years.

That would be a great move. Please let me use that Name.

Why is this console still so inconsistent?

I've had my Xbox One going on 3 years and so far the experience hasn't been a very positive one. While the games are good it's everything else about the console I find so frustrating, it's just completely inconsistent.

Some days notifications won't pop up, then achievements won't unlock, then videos won't load, then messages can't be sent, games in the store can't be viewed, profiles can't be viewed, can't compare achievements, can't view achievements, can't send game
invites, can't send party invites, can't assign anything to my pins, can't remove a pin and so on and so on and so on. Literally every task/feature will fail to work at some point.

Then the new updates come out and compound all the issues and seem to break half the features. It's a viscious cycle that has no end in sight. It seems they would rather just start working on the next update rather than address all the holes left by the
latest one.

While I put up with it the best I could the first 2 years it's just taken its toll on how I view this console. I'm starting to really despise it and the people in charge of supposedly fixing/maintaining/updating it, they just can't put it all together and
make everything work, every time.

Is anyone else burnt out on putting up with the issues? This is without a doubt my least favorite Xbox console solely due to its constant state of inconsistency.

try clear ing your cache or reset the modem.

if it's currently in use, then it won't be available for anyone.

Some GT's have been freed up in the past, but there is no way of telling if that will happen again in the future for inactive GT's

 

Even if the gamertag looks like it has not been used for years, it could very well be in use on other parts of Microsofts network, when they did free up gamer tags in the past that were disconnected form any accounts they had to stop as people were abusing
the system and selling gamertags.

 

Hi there Gekko, we're afraid if you're unable to choose a specific gamertag, you'll need to select a different one.
Games for Windows Live, Xbox games for Windows, Zune, and Xbox Live all use the same gamertag system but not the same chat system.



Gamertags are also tied to services like Zune or Games for Windows LIVE. If a gamertag doesn't exist on Xbox, it might be in use on one of those services. If you try sending the gamertag you want a
friend request and it says it’s not a valid gamertag that just means it isn’t used on Xbox LIVE, but it could be used for Zune or Games for Windows Live.
