    This has been driving me crazy for almost a year now and making my online gaming experience much worse. I am in Germany and do a few tasks during my lunch break. For some unknown reason Microsoft thinks this is a good time to force updates. I am very often in the middle of something and then it goes to the black update screen.. I can either update or go offline.. as I am in an online game, this ends my current progress (normally in a activity that only saves once it is fully completed) and I have to re-do everything. This costs me 15-20 mins to re-do and steals my time that I had during lunch.

    I have tried to complain to the Microsoft account on Twitter, tried to call several Microsoft numbers (always routed somewhere else where to human contact possible), I found a feedback form and complained but it was for Microsoft Australia and they told me it was not their problem. I found a feedback form earlier but I think it was just for the Xbox site and not for general feedback.

    There is a simple fix here: provide an option to remind about update in x mins (20 mins would be enough) and then force update after the user delays it 2 times for example.

    How to we get this simple request to someone at Microsoft? This is infuriating actually. I get so angry every time it happens. If anyone can provide a way to contact someone or we can start a petition or something, that would be great.

    Also happens when streaming shows from streaming services. It’s super annoying!

    Sorry to hear about your frustration!

    I understand it is annoying to get updates in the middle of gaming!

    You can try to putting your console on 'Instant On', and ensure the option to keep the console updated is checked.

    Why do games take hours to install on my Xbox One?

    So are we talking directly from the disc?

    If so, either disconnect your console from the internet when installing or when the option comes up that the games needs an update as well, postpone the update until after the game is installed.

    If you choose the update the game while installing it really plays havoc with it and I have no idea why.
