Why is the Xbox One OS so slow?

I mean seriously, I thought the X360 dashboard was slow, but this is ridiculous. If im in a game, it takes almost 2 full minutes just to invite a friend to a party. When I play Battlefield, I worry that I will be kicked for inactivity because my "invite
players" screen takes forever to load. Sometimes when on the Xbox One dashboard everything just freezes up completely then inputs my commands like 15 seconds later. By skimping on the hardware you guys really *** us consumers. cheap MFers

Some needed clarification on Xbox One's memory

3 gb for OS is just ridiculous - I would doubt it is true.

Think about it, apart from Games (and keeping them in save state ready to be resumed) what does the Xbox One OS actually do?

I don't see how or why it would use more RAM than full fat windows - running several tasks, and processes at once

 

OS still at old version post Update

my xbox one has completed the update, but the OS version has not updated to the correct version - still showing factory version. I assume this is why the disc drive is not working. can you force the update again?

 

I haven't it noticed as bad as your saying, must be your Xbox one/connection. If anything my PS4 os runs like crap compared to the Xbox one os......

 

thats good to hear. I just think its absurd how long it takes to invite somebody to a party. Im running a 30M connection so i dont think its my connection, and my friends is the same way. maybe youre just more tolerant of it

 

Are you running in Instant-On mode? Have you done a power cycle recently?(Holding down the power button for 8+ seconds until it reboots)

My Xbox runs pretty smooth, I've never had any of the lag on the dashboard, but I run in energy saving mode.

I have to agree with MeanKilleR, my Xbox runs way better than my PS4.

 

Thanks i'll give it a try. I do run on instant-on mode but I do power cycles every week or so.

 

Mine is extremely slow on ghosts and I randomly get dashboards.

 

There is definitely a bit of an issue with the instant on mode, as under certain circumstances it's almost as if the console becomes short of resources and then things can be really slow. Doing a full power cycle seems to cure the majority of those issues.
Hopefully MS will find the cause(s) and squash those bugs in a future update.
