Why is the Xbox 360 dashboard going straight to Bing search?

So I noticed this today. Whenever I back out of a app say netflix or say hit the Guide button on the 360 controller and then hit Y to go home. Instead of going to the home "tab" it now goes straight to Bing search? What in the world MS, I mean really? Bing
is not Home. I know it is trivial but still having to move the left stick left every single time is going to get old. Anyone else notice this?

Bing hijacking Dashboard

I have this problem too, for a few days now but only really dawned on me tonight... start up my 360 - straight to bing, exit a game straight to bing. Once you notice it - it becomes vexing fast.

I never use bing (or need it), I want my default page to be 'home' & I do not think that an unreasonable request to make. I hope this is rectified ASAP by the good people at Xbl.

 

New XBOX One experience, I'm ready for it.

I'm wondering what the default area of the new experience is going to be.

After all the similarly named New Xbox Experience for the 360 defaulted to the advert channel, sorry Spotlight, so are we going to see the same here.

The 360 itself now defaults to the Bing tab instead of Home, so it seems that Microsoft are thinking of pushing their products ahead of user experience on the dashboard. On the 360 at any rate, I hope the One doesn't follow suit.

 

It's not just when doing what you mention. It now defaults to the Bing channel when you start the console too.

This is really annoying me as I never use Bing, on my console, PC, or any other device.

Yep just now noticed that as well. What a big pain in the butt. I mean really? There is now reason it needs to default to Bing. Like you I don't even use Bing so why in the heck does it take me there. Thanks Mircosoft for shafting us again.

 

Glad Im not the only one. Thought my nephew changed some settings while he was playing.

 

I wonder why they would do this and then not even offer a way to disable it. I don't have a Twitter account but I did post a message on FB.

If someone has twitter they should ask MS why they did this. I would hope that this is maybe a glitch or the fix it.

 

I've asked on Twitter but I don't expect a reply.

They've obviously done it to try and boost usage of Bing.

All this is going to do is make me block Live access in the Family Settings, so it defaults to Home again, and continue to use it as a media streamer. Just makes Microsoft lose me as someone they can show adverts to.

I am glad to see it wasn't just me, it started happening a few days ago, and since I accidently sat on the controller I thought my butt accidently did something!!!

The logical explanation is in fact what Vaynel said, MS must be trying to boost usage of bing (because it sucks!).

I just want it to stop!!!
