    A mic jack? Seriously?! Lol.

"So legacy headsets will now work without the adapter?"

This is, most likely, the reason why Microsoft did the controller revision. It doesn't make the adapter moot but it's good to know that future owners of the console won't need it for their legacy headsets.

  3. x32 Turtle Beach headset working on xbox one?

    RangerLee,

The headset adapter was originally supposed to come bundled with the Xbox One release. Not sure the reasons as to why it was delayed, but it should release in early 2014 which is when the XO4/XO7 Turtle Beach headsets will also release with that adapter.

Why is the headset adapter so expensive?

TBH is not MS's responsibility to make a product compatible with after market products.... it is the aftermarkets responsibility to make items compatible with the main product... each and everyone of you is lucky MS made this adapter FOR YOU because you
asked for it... they did not NEED to...

To use the car analogy again... you want to do some work on your engine... as you have a certain part that you can use.. is it the cars manufacturers issue they do not sell that extra bracket... or the part you already own....

The numbers are from interwebs and I remember a program on TV on how people spend their cash on useless things.

The biggest cash drain in the tech world is iPhone and iTunes and people absolutely love it!

  6. I have a question: Will this new adapter work with my Turtlebeach X42 wireless headset? I checked support, but I'm still not entirely sure. I'm trying to figure out if I should get the adapter or if I should get the new stereo headset instead.

We are talking about something that is standard across every other piece of tech with the exception of a few companies looking for profit. (Apple and MS).

You compare it to car parts, I compare it to buying a coffee maker and finding out that I can't plug it into my wall outlet without an adaptor. There isn't a need to do it other than to force me to buy another product.

If you own an accessory that is made to be compatible with a certain brand...and it works with the brand you bought it for (XB 360) if that company puts out an brand new device (XB1), it it not that companies responsibility to make adapters for you to use
older non compatible equipment on... it is the accessories company to make that adapter... how hard is that to understand?

    @tohellnbak

The important question is "Why is it not compatible?". If it's some brand new tech that requires completely different hardware then I'll give them that, if it's not compatible simply because they want to make it proprietary for pure profit then I have an
    issue with it.

You didn't find it strange that last gen headsets and racing wheels that were compatible with the PC also worked on the ps3 but not the 360? There is a difference between necessity and a cash grab.

GrowlingYapper that's exactly what I am talking about, people are happy to spend £20 in the pub but £20 for the adapter is an extortion! Go figure ....
