Why is my Xbox One interface rapidly scrolling and not letting me select certain functions?

Hello! I'm currently experiencing an issue with my Xbox One. Whenever I start up my console, the whole interface seems to be locked to certain areas. By this I mean that any attempt to scroll up, down, or sideways is limited to a few spaces. Also, it seems like scrolling is rapidly sped up but not going anywhere. I can only click or access certain areas of the interface. Even typing on the keyboard is affected. The problem won't let me change from uppercase to lowercase and vice versa. Originally, I thought this was an issue with my controller. However, I have been able to update my controller using my pc and nothing has changed. A full restart/reset has been attempted to the console without any change, as well. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Does this issue persist with a different controller? If you don't have another controller, you could also try plugging in a USB keyboard and test navigating the interface.

Hi Kyle,

My apologies for the delay in getting back to you! I didn’t have another controller, so I used my computer keyboard. This did not resolve the issue. My Xbox interface was still stuck and was still rapidly scrolling in one direction or another without actually moving.

Gonna gave to agree with the consensus here: It's a pretty terrible update. Why they thought removing the kinect voice functionality was a good idea is beyond me. The scrolling interface is ugly as well as cumbersome to use. They had a real good thing going
for them from a design standpoint and now they've gone and completely *** it up. Microsoft/Netflix need to fix this and fast!

I love the Xbox 360 user interface and I prefer it over the Xbox One

The current Xbox One user interface functional and it gets the job done, but it would be nice to see my avatar on the dashboard once again.

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

In this case, we just need to reset your console keeping your games and apps through the Xbox Troubleshooter page. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

Make sure to follow the steps accordingly to access it:

"1. Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.

2. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

3. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.

4. Press and hold the Pair button and the Eject button, and then press the Xbox button on the console.

5. Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.

6. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone."

When the console powers up, you will see the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter. Please click on "Reset this Xbox" then "Reset and keep my games and apps".
