    Why is my mic so quiet in parties?


    I have a mic plugged directly into the 3.5mm headphone jack on my wired xbox one controller.

    My friend said I was super quiet in party chat so I thought maybe the mic was not picking up noise.

    I sent him a voice message (and tested the sound myself) and my voice is loud and clear.

    Why is it that in xbox parties I can barely be heard?

    My mic monitoring is set to 10 in case that matters.

    I have tried playing around with settings and have done a hard reset and assigned this controller to my account.

    I can't find a solution online so can anyone help me out at all?

    Thanks for responding!

    Let's try this next,

    Hit the Xbox button on your controller and go to the little gear / settings icon and look for the audio or volume option below settings.

    Adjust the Mic monitoring option and raise it to see if that makes a difference. The Mic Monitoring option should be there but sometimes it isn't

    depending on what type of mic / headset that you're using.

    Also, is it possible that there might be some type of other wireless interference in your room or house causing this issue?

    Why is my mic so quiet in parties?

    Just done 2 soft resets and hasn't fixed the issue.

    Have tested voice volume in voice messages and is perfectly fine and audible.

    The party chat is still dead quite so I will have to give up parties for now.

    I did a full factory reset last night and don't really want to do another one.

    Hey there Jake thanks for taking the time to bring this issue to us.

    We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused but rest assured we are here to help, we have seen this in the past
    and since the issue could be on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a >Soft
    Factory Reset    <
    (while keeping games and apps and have the controller and headset plugged in)
    IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

    • There is a stable network connection.
    • The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)

    Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup
    lets do manual setup as this will revert all the settings back to stock and push through any and all updates to the console, controller, and headset to insure this isn't
    an update issue. Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!

    I might have to leave this one for now. I'm not sure what the issue is.

    My mic monitoring has been set to 10 each time I have tested.

    Thanks for your help though. Maybe it'll randomly sort itself :p
