    Why is my console storage less than it’s supposed to be?


    I just got my xbox back and i decided to redownload all my games but when it got to one of the games for some reason it said “Not enough console storage” and I was confused because I did the math and added up how much storage each game would take up to see if i had enough space for all the games so I decided to do the math and add up each game including the dlcs (which I didn’t do before) and I used a calculator, the total came out to be 280 gb for all the games in total and I have 42 gb left so why is my total console storage 322 gb???? This doesn’t make sense at all, I thought the console is supposed to have 500 gb total

    Make sure there is enough room on the console to install the game. Consoles have less storage than a PC so some care to check the free space is important.

    Hi Slaytong4min! I hope you are well, delighted to be able to offer you my help!

    The console has a 512GB SSD, but only 364GB is for your games. The rest is taken by the operating system or reserved for quick resumption. But it's the same when you buy phones, computers, etc., although not to this extent. But they always list the size of the drive instead of how much space the user has access to.
