    Why is my bandwidth usage being used when xbox 1 is turn off


    i come home sometimes i check my bandwidth useage everytime i do it has always said zero from the time i leave home till the time i get back but today there was at least 30 g maybe more used between 4 and 9 but the xbox was suppose to be off

    Tech issues: Xbox One bandwidth usage page showing I've used 1.5 million TB last month...

    So the past 3 months I've gone over my 1 TB data allowance with Comcast, and I've been going through all of my devices to figure out why, since historically my monthly usage average was ~600 GB.

    Well I went into my Xbox One settings and went to the Bandwidth Usage screen.

    For the month of August, it says I used "11,409.15 TB" of bandwidth and then in September it says I used "1,551,860.35 TB" of data. Obviously this is incorrect as that amount of data is ridiculous, but regardless, the spikes
    in my usage history on the Xbox itself coincide with the spikes I'm seeing with Comcast.

    My Xbox was averaging around 125 GB per month up until August. Would anyone know why this could be happening or what else I can do to figure out what's going on?

    Check your settings. If it's set for Instant On mode then it will download updates when it's off.

    If you want to make sure your console is off, cut the power chord or turn it off at the wall. Otherwise it will secretly download updates. And when you buy a new Xbox console, Instant On is set to On, by Default. Yes, not many people know of that.

    AFAIK there are two settings for updates - one for system as such and one for Games&Apps.

    If these are turned off - even in instant on - it should not download updates.

    But check those settings first - otherwise there might be a bug.

    I mean 30G, that is horrendous amount of data. But looking at some Ubisoft games maybe not suprising.

    Division=16 GB patch when I installed. Ghost Recon=3 x 8 GB since I installed. That's about 50% or more than total game download.

    Checked with Vodafone nz. My place uses on average 400GB data per month. Mostly YouTube and some Netflix. I'm also a YouTube myself too. Get unlimited data 100mb.s download and 10mb.s upload. Good upload speed for being a YouTube.
    It takes me only 25 minutes to upload a 20 minute 1080p video on YouTube.com.

    If you set the refresh period to 1 day, the Xbox Series X console will collect bandwidth usage data for 24 hours and then update it in the Settings panel. This will allow you to see how your bandwidth has been used over the previous day.

    If you want to delete or reset your bandwidth usage for a month, follow these steps:

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select Profile & System > Settings.
    3. Select System > Updates & Downloads.
    4. 4. Select Bandwidth Usage.
    5. 5. Select Reset.

    This will clear all bandwidth usage data for the current month.

    You can also clear or reset the bandwidth usage for a specific game or application. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    2. Select My Games and Apps.

    3. Select the game or application you want to delete or reset.

    4. 4. Select More Options > Game Information.
    5. Scroll down to the "Bandwidth Usage" section and select Reset.

    This will remove all bandwidth usage data for that game or application.
