Why is minecraft java on my mac not available for me if i own minecraft bedrock on my xbox .

Hi there,

so I signed in to my Microsoft account with bedrock on both Minecraft launcher and website and microsoft store but it says buy now instead of get on the minecraft launcher and it says to buy the minecraft pack to get java i have already tried to log out and log in but it still says i need to buy the entire bundle. i have tried searching my purchases but the purchase was a physical cd of minecraft for the xbox minecraft.

Because you would need to buy it for that platform. Minecraft is not a Play Anywhere title so you wouldn't get it on PC/Mac just for owning it on Xbox. Even if it was Play Anywhere, you would need to own it digitally.

I have the same problem, I brought minecraft standard edition from the main website. I downloaded the game after on my pc and It opened the x box app. It says 'buy now' on the x box app even though the main website said 'you own this'. ( I am using the same account )

There are several different versions of minecraft. Minecraft: Java edition is PC only and can only crossplay with Java players (mac, Lenox, PC) The minecraft that doesnt have a version next to it is the play together version or more commonly called bedrock.
Bedrock is the version that can be played across mobile, console, and PC. There are also editions that are made specifically for most consoles and even a stand alone mobile version. Examples would be Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, Minecraft: Pocket Edition.
These do not work with Bedrock which is just called Minecraft. Java is the most updated version of minecraft while bedrock would be right behind that one. The others I'm really not sure how often they update them if at all. Each edition of Minecraft has to
be purchased separately. I happen to own both Minecraft: Xbox one edition and Minecraft since they released at separate times. I also have Java on my PC. As for your issue they do not have a Bedrock version on the 360.

Yes, I already own Minecraft on my previous account. I own both Java and Bedrock edition. I have tried logging into my previous account but it still required me to purchase Minecraft Java Edition for the second time

The Xbox edition of Minecraft in the screenshot is still the Bedrock edition, is it not? I should have access to Java through owning the Bedrock edition, and I don't understand why I wouldn't be able to play it if I played Java in the past with my Microsoft account without having to buy Java.
