Why is Microsoft such a greedy evil entity?

I paid for Game Pass Ultimate on 10/5/20. Per the confirmation email, I’d be billed again starting 11/5/20. That is not what happened. I set an alarm on my phone for 10:00 PM the night before to make sure I canceled the subscription and wasn’t charged
again. Before the alarm even went off, my Paypal alerted me of a charge: $16.04 to Microsoft. I canceled the subscription, and it said it would end 11/5. I thought the refund would be processed the next day since the subscription was canceled, but it wasnt.
So I checked the subscription, and it said I had paid through 12/5. I immediately tried to cancel but it said since it was paid, it wouldn’t be canceled until 12/5. I submitted a refund request but was denied since I was given a refund earlier this year when
I DID forget to cancel a subscription. So now I dont know what I can do. I explicitly tried to avoid this situation by making sure I canceled the subscription in time but the greedy snakes at Microsoft charged me a day early and refuse to give me a refund
because they already gave me ONE this YEAR?!?!?!?! How does the fact that I received a refund for my own mistake negate the legitimacy of the issue that took place this time?!?!?! How is this vulturistic evil legal? I accept that the first refund may have
not been required, but I feel that this one legally is. I made no error on my part, did not exceed any time limits, and ACTIVELY tried to prevent this occurance. It honestly feels like Microsoft intentionally charged me a day early before I canceled the subscription
because they knew I’d be ineligible for a refund. I honestly feel that I’ve been manipulated and stolen from. It may only be $16.04, but I only had exactly enough to pay to renew my license plates (and I’d already paid for them so we’ll just see what kind
of complications that creates). Microsoft, why are you being like this? Why are your policies so unfair and unjust to your consumers? This whole ordeal has me alternating between furious disbelief and disenchanted disappointment that one of - what I thought
was - the greatest companies has to pander to policies that completely screw over the consumer and create a medium for legitimate theft. I’m bleakly hopeful that someone will help me resolve this and I will be given the refund so that I can pay for my license
plates, but Microsoft seems to only care about how much money they can take without being authorized so we’ll see.
