Why is it not letting me play gta online

With online issues like these, there could be many factors that could cause it so it's best to start with basic troubleshooting steps and work our way up trying different solutions to start ruling out some factors and narrow it down to the root cause.

Solution 1: Basic troubleshooting steps:


Step 1: Clear Mac address:

Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear it and the console should restart. It would definitely help if you could restart the internet router while the console is restarting.

Step 2: Remove your account:

First, please select System > Settings > account > remove accounts and then select your account and select Remove to confirm then re-add your account.

Step 3: Reset your console:

If you are still encountering the same issue, please select System > Settings > System > Console info > Select Reset console > Choose Reset and keep my games and apps.

Note =>The "Reset and Keep my Games and Apps" option will not cause losing your games, but please be aware that you need to be completely aware of the email address as well as the password of your account before going for it because it will require you to sign in to the account.

Step 4: Check your NAT type:

Another thing you should check is your NAT type. I would like you to check your NAT type if open because that could sometimes interfere. to check for the NAT type you can follow the steps below:

Settings > Network Settings > NAT type => It should be open.

If the NAT type is not open, you will need to open some ports with your internet provider. These ports must be open for Xbox Live to work: Port 88 (UDP) Port 3074 (UDP and TCP) Port 53 (UDP and TCP) Port 80 (TCP) Port 500 (UDP) Port 3544 (UDP) Port 4500 (UDP).

Solution 2: Check if your console is connected to the internet

If you can't play online, make sure your Xbox One console is connected to the internet. See Network Settings on Xbox One for more information on checking your network connectivity and settings.

Solution 3: Check for Xbox status alerts

Make sure there are no service status alerts that might affect your ability to connect.

Solution 4: Check the status of your Xbox Live subscription

If there was a problem with your subscription payment, your subscription may be suspended and you may not be able to connect to Xbox Live. For more information on updating payment information to resume a suspended subscription, see Update payment info to continue your Xbox Live subscription.

"why have you decided to not play until online starts?"

uh hem *clears throat* the reason i got GTA V is for the online and since the online portion, the player can customize their character, and my online character will be a like-ness to me

and the three main characters of GTA V, micheal - trevor - franklin, are not to my liking so if there was no GTA Online for Five, i would have not gotten GTA V to begin with given that the Online has the custom character creation.

this is the reason to why i don't start it until Online Launches

But I won't let me get the gta online doesn't it come with gta online or do I have to buy it

All Xbox games (with the exemption of those that are "Free to Play") require an active Xbox Live Gold subscription to play online. I'm afraid that's why GTA is not allowing you to play Online.
