Why Is Cloud Saving mandatory on the Xbox One?

Seriously Why isn't this feature optional like it was on the 360? I never had a problem with my games before because it was all just saved locally on my hard drive. I can even play offline with all of my content after a storm knocked out the internet service,
pretty common in the midwest, You know what else is common? being limited on what your ISP will give you for internet speeds. I've been having a problem for two months about using my data and it all stems from the unwanted cloud usage. I've always know cloud
storage was not a good idea for my area, thats why I never used it. But why is it now mandatory. Its like they didn't take everything into considerations. Like geographical limitations for internet speeds and mobile hots pots. Poor Internet Service Provider
service and maintenance. Its a fine feature if you want/can utilize it properly. But not everyone plays in online communities or go to other places and feel the need to download their profile to another Xbox just to play.

So why is this mandatory? Please Someone, community member, Microsoft Employee, anyone tell me.

And no need to bother about the problem I'm having (I'm looking at you moderators). its an open ticket both with Microsoft and the game developer. I'm just ranting about the root cause of it.

New update wiped out my hard drive

I didn't bother saving anything to the cloud because i never anticipated that a mandatory update would wipe out my hard drive and all the games i put so many hours into

 

My console won't turn off/power down

Hey Waylon, By chance are you using the Cloud feature for saving games? Why I ask is because the cloud will store your save files locally in the systems cache then will auto upload them to the cloud when you shut off the Xbox.
