    why is borderlands the handsome collection free?


    so I've looked everywhere i can to see whats going on, but I've come up with nothing. today around 7:30pm i went to go play a game so i went to my library. as i was there my ready to install tab had both borderlands 2 and the pre-sequel ready for installation.
    i didn't buy them. I'm not saying to get rid of them, i loved borderlands 2 and wanted to play the pre-sequel. just want to have a little more light shined in. so yeah... whats going on?

    why is borderlands the handsome collection free?

    it showed up on my list as well im slightly confused by it since there is no given info anywhere about it is it a gift for the holiday or just a free to play weekend deal?

    According to the Borderlands website:

    "Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary will be available for free to all owners of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection until July 8 at 06:59:59 UTC (11:59:59 PDT). Requires Borderlands 2 or Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
    to play."
