why install games?

Ok, first off, I love the Xbox One. I think it's better than the PS4 and it's my main console. With that being said, why do we need to install games to the HDD? I know the PS4 is the same way and it's just part of the next gen, but why? I remember buying
games, going home, popping it in and start playing but we have to install the game first, which takes awhile, depending on the game, plus it feels the HDD way to fast. I'm not really complaining, just not sure why we need to install the games. What benefit
is there?

Have you tried un-installing and re-installing the app? as there is no reason why it shouldn't play.

 

Why do we install ?

@Bray alot of the speculation around the Nintendo patents is that they would be going back to cartridges.

 

It really comes down to performance. We want 1080p games, which are huge, and we want them to continue to play at 60fps, which is fast. So the ODD isn't capable of pushing those figures on it's own, so it splits the work load. Give some of it to the hard
drive and then let the disc drive do what it can to help.
