Why I won't be renewing my Xbox subscription after 9 years of continuous membership

    Hello everyone,

Here's some backstory on my years on Xbox; I have had a total of 3 accounts throughout the Xbox 360 days playing with my friends and family on Xbox Live. My current account has been with me for 4 years (the longest I have had). I have never
experienced bad reputation in any of my accounts until April of this year.

After almost a year of playing, I had reached to the top 3% in Overwatch and began to receive reports against me for Voice communication, Unsportsmanlike Behavior and Cheating. I can say for sure, I did trash talk in some of my messages as it is very competitive
at the higher ranks thus resulting into a suspension (profanity is against the policies). These reports and suspensions brought me down to 'Needs Work' reputation where I'm on the verge of being placed into the no multiplayer zone 'Avoid Me'. This prompted
me to muting my microphone and avoiding all communication with others just to stay out of hell reputation. Without even saying anything in my games, playing my best, I was still reported and or blocked, forcing me into the single player only category of reputation 'Avoid
    Me'.

After being placed in 'Avoid Me' I had some questions about what they look at in a report. Is there even any evidence provided that someone was playing poorly and unsportsmanlike with a report or is it just hearsay? I've researched into how to improve my
reputation and found the only way to improve, is to play online with others. That of course is without receiving any reports in the process. However, when queue times go up to 2 hours of searching in Overwatch and automatically being kicked from lobbies in
FIFA 17 and 2k17 because of my reputation, I can't play with anyone to improve my reputation. I haven't been able to play for just over a month on my Xbox because of this reputation system. I was told to play World of Tanks as it free and doesn't have a restriction
on the reputation of players, but let's face it... that game sucks and I have to play 24 continuous hours of that game without being reported to fix my reputation. Even that doesn't secure my account from being dropped back into 'Avoid Me'. That's incredibly absurd.

I've contacted multiple customer service representatives on the matter of my reputation. It appears as I have two different reputations; 1. In good standing (enforcement.xbox.com), and 2. 'Avoid Me' (Xbox One profile). Obviously the representatives from customer
service can't help me or any others in the same shoes as me, as the Enforcement Team are the only ones that have the power to change or penalize players reputation. It's mind-boggling to hear that the company that I supported and suggested to everyone, is
so closed off to the public. There is no phone number to reach the infamous Enforcement Team, the only way to reach them is through the Enforcement and Activity History. Meaning I have to purposely get suspended to reach them. Why am I even paying $12 CAD
per month for Xbox Live when I have been ripped of my rights to play online. I've purchased hundreds of games and paid for 9 years of Xbox service. I've played to my best of my ability to reach the top 3% on Overwatch and something so flawed as the reputation
system has completely changed my view on Xbox.

It frustrating that I can't speak to anyone on Xbox's behalf about this matter as they haven't released a separate customer service for the enforcement team dept. I'd like to know why players can't lose their privileges without anyway to refute a statement
or claim against them. I'm sorry but that is poor customer service and won't help Xbox in the competition against other gaming services. The reputation system and the lack of communication between Xbox and it's customers is the reason why I will be ending
my yearly subscription and why I suggested my friends to move on from this company.

Thank you for reading my rant,

Please add on your opinions on this topic.

    :)

How to Turn off auto renewal or cancel Xbox LIVE membership

How to turn off auto renewal

It is recommended that you cancel your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership using the option of turning off automatic renewal. If auto renewal is "off", your membership will expire at the end of its current term.

    Steps to follow:

    1) If you are not already signed in, click Sign In at the upper right hand corner and sign in using your Microsoft account.

    2) Proceed to My Account.

    3) Click Change next to automatic renewal. Change the setting to OFF

You will be able to continue enjoying all the benefits of Xbox LIVE Gold Membership until your paid membership time expires.

    Note:

If you want to cancel or disable your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership immediately, you should contact Xbox support. Use the Request a Call from Support option on the official Xbox Contact Us page. Your account cannot be canceled through chat or email.

If you disable your account immediately, you will lose the time remaining on your membership subscription.

If you are on a 2 Year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract, and you want to cancel before the end of the 2 years, you will be charged an Early Termination Fee and other applicable taxes. Once the two-year agreement period is over, your account will not be renewed automatically.

You can cancel the 2 Year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract using the option of self-cancel your subscription on Xbox.com

Microsoft Shutting Down Xbox Live Indie Games

According to Microsoft, it is no longer accepting subscriptions and membership renewals. The company has said it will support in-development projects up until September 9, 2016, at which point the indie games store will be closed.

I currently Play R6 siege on Xbox one, I came across a guy with the "Avoid Me" rep and he was never kicked from the game, he kept trash talking and using profanity so I reported him, still wasnt kicked from the game, finished the current match and he showed
back up in the next match. You can get into a match in overwatch or even other games. Your rep shouldnt keep you from being in multiplayer, but it lets people know that you, according to xbox, should be avoided. I have been with xbox for about 10 years or
so myself and I have almost left too, but Sony has way more problems then xbox does. I also think you can email the Enforcement team directly from the website.

There is no available contact information for the public in regards of the Enforcement team. The only direct message is an automated message through the enforcement history page. It gives no evidence and little to no information on your case. (Just what
catergory your suspension or ban falls under). The only way to reach them will have to be getting reported on purpose and trying to refute it even though you obviously lose the claim.

There are multiple games that have no restrictions on the reputation of the player base. R6 Seige falls under this catergory, same with any Battlefield and some Free 2 Play games like World of Tanks.

I think Xbox had a good idea with the reporting system, its good to try to clean up the playerbase but this system in place is so flawed and easily manipulated. They say they check every report to see if it's a viable reason yet they provide no proof and
give no contact information. Xbox Live is a paid service and this idiotic way of you losing your subscription to anyone that wants to is my turning point in my views of Xbox. Then comparing it to the free to use PC servers which has no way of you losing any
money in the process, Xbox stands no where near the profit they hoped for. It seems like it's just a cash grab. Xbox has built XB1 controllers so crappy where they have and are still receiving reports on left analog stick scrolling by itself because of one little
plastic piece pushing up the stick making it lose. Add on the servers lagging profusely and you've got yourself a failing business.

I'm going to make another account and purposely get reported to show you all that haven't and hopefully never will experience how frustrating this incident and the enforcement team are.

An error occurred cancelling automatic renewal

Thanks for the suggestions, mate. Not surprisingly (to me at least), no dice with the commerce website.

Even if I do upgrade the membership I'm still concerned that it will continue to auto-renew after the year has expired... that's my real gripe here -- the inability to cancel the auto-renew without having to wait on the phone (and that Xbox support continues
    to tout this ability).
