Why I hate my Xboxone

I really hope Microsoft /Xbox reads this stuff. It sort of sucks to have a potentially awesome console and no games. Then they "remake" old games that just really don't add much value at all.

Then there are no games for the system that a really out yet.

Oh and Game developers and Xbox get this: There are a vast number of gammers that after working hard all day and dealing with people all day just want to go home and veg. No interaction with other people etc.

Skyrim was great for that. But now developers think we all want to interact with friends on line etc. The fact is I see my friends all the time. If I wish to interact with them then I invite them over.

To create a game (Assassins creed comes to mind) that has a play alone version but then has a bunch of stuff that can only be played if you're on line with another player just plain sucks.

We are adults, mostly this is why most games have adult content. So why on Earth do I want to pay 70 bucks for a game where all I do is shoot stuff?

I get that there is a market for that but at the same time there is a real market for stand alone games like Fallout, Skyrim etc. Those games are great! they are extremely popular. But it seems that the industry is under the impression that this market
no longer exists.

Elder Scrolls is going to be an on line multiplayer game that requires a group to do stuff. While they promise that there will be enough stuff to make it interesting for individual players.

Then of course there is the ongoing monthly charge just to be able to sin in and play the game.

Perhaps Xbox and game developers want to lose us as an audience. I say go for it! but before you do think about how many people bought the single player versions of your games and how much revenue that generated.

Then think, what would happen if that market said screw it I'm done? Either make a game that is meant to be online or make a game that isn't. Do not make agame that is "both" and have the end gamer run into stuff they can't do without other players. The
multiplayer content should not pop up in a sigle player mode.

I am not a programmer nor am I a game developer. I do predictive analysis, but I did have to take programming course work and even at my amature level I could write code that says if X event don't do Y. Instead developers nowadays think let's just throw
stuff out there and see who complains.

At least Witcher 3 promises to be a great game. The developers said that they want a true product, not one that is S@#T and I agree.

So hopefully this rant will get the attention of the poweres that be and they will realize that they are about to lose a lucrative market share.

Surely I am not the only player that feels this way right?

I own a Ps4 it has its problems but I will wait till e32014 to see what comes out. I wish I had a Xboxone im so wanting one atm.

Im not selling my Ps4 I would like to wait and see whats coming e32014. Ive saved 300 dollars hopefully by next month I can buy it with 4 games. Where I live both consoles are sold out. If a fan of both now. I recieve alot of hate from Psfanboys just because
I want to try out Xboxone console. Youtube is terrible I have Ps4 and I dont hate on Xboxone users. Xboxone as of now looks really cool to me I want Titanfall and 4 of their games. Please dont call me a fanboy I am a fan of both systems. I did not say Xboxone
is better by the way. I watched the Voice commands and I kinda wish my Ps4 had all the apps that Xboxone has. Ps4 I have Netflix and psplus.

Obviously it's just down to personal taste but I think there's already a great selection of games already out on Xbox One that offer a great single player experience, again though my type of games might not be for the next person but here's what I would
recommend from my own experience ..

( And yes, a few of these have co-op/multiplayer options but in my opinion still great fun on your own )

Once again, this is obviously my own opinion! I do love a good co-op game but all of these games here have also given me a great single player experience.

Like I said it's just down to each of us and the game we like. I've been lucky as there's been a lot of games I have really enjoyed, for others though it could be completely different.

I would like to see some more RPGs though. Hopefully at E3 we will get a few nice surprises

 

I agree mate, for me personally there has been plenty great games in this generation so far!

I mean at the moment I am currently working my way through Halo MMC, now I know Halo is not for everyone but if you are a Halo fan there is hours upon hours of content in that package.

Tomorrow see the Fast and Furious expansion for Forza Horizon 2 tomorrow and Neverwinter next week and both of those are free!

 

Plenty of games out on the xbox one.

Neverwinter online is out on 31st,that'll keep you busy for hours & you can do everything on your own.

Best of all,it's free.

 

I'm pretty sure fallout 4 got announced so that's something to look forward to, and I agree I don't particulary like playing multiplayer all the time, I loved tomb raider and wanted all the cheevs but because of multiplayer I didn't achieve this as IMO tomb
raider doesn't need any sort of multiplayer

 

I appreciate all of the advice and responses to my rant. Some very good suggestions. My concern is that the future of gaming will force us into a situation in which the only option to complete all achievements would be to go into a multiplayer environment.

Take Assassins creed for example, there are all sorts of side quests that show up on the map; yet I'm in campaign mode (single player).

So I figure yeah before I save the lady and get my due I'll pop over and run a few side jobs. After all what lady wants to date a broke man?

Only think is in order to do them I have to go online. Now that would be fine and all except most of my friends don't own the Xboxone yet, or they don't have the game etc.

So now I need to find someone else on;ine that can join in.

I've been in IT for 15 years and worked in tier 2/3 support prior to getting my masters. After a long day of dealing with end users and crisis situations; I just want to chill. Now I can either hang with my mates which can be a bit of fun, but on a week
night not very likely. Especially the ones that have kids.

Then there's the girlfriend, only she works as for (read as basically) the director of finance at a university. all of the responsibility but none of the pay. So she wants to do her own thing and if we do decide to meet up I can assure you the last thing
on my mind is video games.

Now that I have my masters and have been working in data mining / predictive analysis the frustration level is just slightly higher as there is a lot more responsibility.

My main point is 1) there is a big market for those that play solo. While many in this market also play multiplayer platform games as well - they do so by choice.

2) Modern consoles seem to feel that we are more interested in co-op play and the market seems to be headed/forcing (gradually) gamers to head that way too.

3) This could cost the industry lots of money.

I was just wondering if I was not alone in this.

Oh and The original Thief line was great but the new version was a bit of a let down. The ending was sort of anticlimatic in my humble opinion.

 

^you want more SP games, I personally want more co-op games, others want more MP games.

You cant please all of the people all of the time.

 

I feel your pain, brother. The best thing about having a game console was that, once upon a time, they were like books, which allowed one to curl up on a couch and escape---alone---for a little while. Those days are going the way of the dodo, it seems. Bloody
shame, too. I got an Xone, and have used it twice in four months. I finally threw it in the trash---yes, the TRASH---because it only sat there, taking up space. Backwards compatibility means nothing to me, because I still own a perfectly good, functioning
and reliable 360 that plays the games I love, online or offline. Death to multiplayer, viva single player and split-screen co-op!

 

Tried The Witcher, Far Cry 4, Batman Arkham Knight, Dragon Age, Ryse, Shadow of Mordor.

Cant speak on Arkham Knight as i haven't played it but all the others are really good SP games,

 

whel at least you haven't had to send your xbox back 4 times to xbox and once to the retailer and getting ready to send it back again 3 days after getting it back not happy

 

@tom12128 - what are you doing to your xbox's, I have had mine since 22nd of November 2013 without an issue, still using the original controllers also.
