    Why have all my gaming captures disappear?


    Hello, I am a gaming content creator which means I typically have hours upon hours worth of game clips. I went to go upload my gaming clips from my xbox to the xbox network, that I have been collecting for some time, for specific content only to find that EVERYTHING is gone. Hours and hours of captures have just disappeared, some not even old and I'm not sure how to get them back as it is pretty crucial to make the content I need. I have read that some people say the captures will delete for no reason if they're "old", but I still currently have a few on my xbox that are much older (about 100 days old) than the ones missing. If anyone knows why this could could and what to do to retrive them, please let me know!

    If the clips are not on the console or in Microsoft's cloud, unfortunately it will not be possible to retrieve them.

    The ideal thing to prevent this from happening again is to use an external HD as media only for captures.

    @TheHooiganTX Thanks for the suggestion about the privacy settings. I've had a look and everything is set to as open as possible.

    Also Upload Studio was already installed. I don't have an app called Game DVR.

    I think there is something to it though.

    After reading this topic, I checked out my screenshots / clips on my Xbox and noticed all of the ones that were not uploaded yet are gone except for 1 from 14 days ago.

    I've taken several screenshots of environments in Red Dead 2, and a video of a bear attacking me because it kind of glitched when it happened. Those are all gone.

    Thanks for the link, though that looks like it only applies to captures on xbox live, not local storage.
