Why hasn't my gamertag changed after paying for it

I use the xbox app on PC to communicate and play games with friends on console. I payed $10 to change my old xbox name to the name I use regularly on PC, went from the original VIITERII to Avarice. When I purchased the name change, it showed me the two options for xbox one and then the older 360 games that don't support the new naming system. so Avarice and Avarice1051. However after buying the name change its only changed the name under my profile to Avarice1051 it uses that name in any xbox connected game ex. Grounded. However in an xbox party and on my profile and to others it still shows the old name VIITERII with the new name under it. I've looked up the issue with nothing helping mostly just saying to wait however it hasn't changed in months, when attempting to change my gamer tag again it tells me that Im changing the name from VIITERII and if I put in Avarice it gives me the same generated numbers 1051 asking me to pay for the name again. I've signed out of the account and relogged and even booted up my xbox to see if it changed there and it hasn't. I then tried refunding the change and describing the issue there however they just told me it was past the time I was able to refund and that was all they left me with.

Go to: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/contact-us/

See the bottom left part of the page and make sure that the page has the correct region that you are in (ex: United States - English for USA)

If not, click on it then select the correct region that you are in.

Check and confirm that you are within the available time of support under Contact times.

Click Contact us

Select the drop-down menu options that will match your concern.

On the page, see the provided support articles that may help you with your concern. Click See contact options if further assistance is needed.

On the next page, select either Chat online or Request a call option then follow or enter the needed details.

Please try to re-claim your gamertag on https://social.xbox.com/ChangeGamerTag

Just enter the gamertag you used to change it. You don't have to pay for it if you already paid it.

yeah but I want my gamertag changed and I still have 2 pay after they removed my gamertag as far as I'm concerned i shouldnt have 2 pay if they want my gamertag changed to something more appropriate then Microsoft should pay for
the name change

It may be possible that there is an issue with the gamertag change not being properly processed by the Xbox servers. There are a few potential causes for this:

- The Xbox servers may be experiencing high traffic or maintenance, which could cause delays in processing the gamertag change.

- There may be an issue with your internet connection causing the communication between your console and the Xbox servers to be disrupted.

- There could be a problem with the account on the Xbox server end, which is causing the gamertag change to not go through.

Kindly try to resync your Xbox profile to your console by following the steps below. Make sure that you know your account logins before doing these steps.

REMOVE PROFILE:

To remove a profile: From Profile & system, select Settings > Account > Remove accounts. Select a profile, then select Remove.

POWER CYCLE CONSOLE:

To restart your console: Press and hold the Xbox button on your controller, and then select Restart console > Restart. To power cycle your console if it's frozen: Press and hold the Xbox button on your controller for 10 seconds. Then press the Xbox button on the console or on your controller to turn your console back on.

RE-ADD PROFILE:

To add an Xbox profile to a console, press the Xbox button to open the guide and go to Profile & system. Select Add or switch, and then select Add new and follow the instructions.

If it still doesn't work, kindly give it time and check it again within 24-72 hours.

Verify if your Gamertag is the new one.

In case it is not, the best course of action is to contact Support.

Type in your query: "Agent"

Click on Get Help.

Scroll down the page and click on Contact Support.

Select your "Other Products" and "Billing and Account Profile Questions" > Confirm.
