Why has my console been banned?

Hi all,

My son has quite a chequered history with breaching community standards in the Xbox network, after so many warnings and temporary suspensions they have permanently banned his account, as irritating as this is to me (because we've spent a lot of money on digital content for him) I kind of get why they've done this, but they've also blocked my series X from the network too, I have a clean record on Xbox live and don't see why, without any explanation they can turn my console into a £450 paper weight.

I'm also extremely frustrated that I wasn't informed this could happen, not even that it was going to happen, it was completely unavoidable to me.

Is this how loyal customers are treated?

The console is less than a year old.

Why should I have to spend another £450 to play Xbox?

Yes,you can be banned for joining hacked/modded lobbies.

No one here can tell you why/if you or your console is banned as the enforcement team don't use the forums.

Hi and thanks for replying.

So just to be clear, Microsoft would rather a perfectly good console ends up in a landfill than address this with the owner?

I hardly play the Xbox at all these days, and I'm being punished?

It wasn't his console to ban, it feels like theft to me.

I've been reading a lot of online forums about this, and the consensus is the same, to brick someone's actual property is beyond ridiculous, and there is apparently ways people can do this even if there's been no abusive behaviour.

My son is usually very forthcoming and honest about his behaviour when he's had temporary account suspensions, he said he's done nothing wrong in this case and uses Discord on his phone for all gaming communications, and the enforcement team hiding behind a firewall of red tape is abhorrent if you ask me.

I will never buy another Xbox again and will advise others to be the same.

The enforcement page provides no clues as to what caused this to happen, and as stated, I'm left with a very expensive paper weight for being a loyal customer.

I'm outraged.
